Justin Bieber doesn't know what 'German' means.

Yeah, after reading the word off the card he should have been able to figure out that German is a language.

Still, it could have been him unable understand the accent, but it's really not that bad.

The fact he doesn't know what "German" means even after reading the card is just...well idiotic.

Ever heard of WW2? The Holocaust? I mean seriously....gimme me a break. I might forgive him if it was like "Botswanian" or something but c'mon.

I like how that's the first thing you think of when you hear the word Germany.

Try and convince me that is not what they are most known for. It's like saying Belgium isn't best known for its chocolate.

Well, I know people from Germany, so the first thing I think of when someone says Germany is "that's where ______ are from". And the country has done other stuff in the past besides play a part in WW2. It's the country Karl Marx and Michael Schumacher are from, for example.

While I can understand that the Kiwi accent would have altered the word "German" into something completely different, reading the card completely destroys his excuse of not knowing what the host was saying.

I saw this earlier on FB just to see what the fuss was all about, and was a little disappointed. All of this hate just because a 16 year old kid didn't know what "German" meant?

i think it was the way it was pronounced the first time that threw him off, and he got put into the wrong mind set. After all Tv shows can make you nervous and such and once you get stuck on an idea like "what does German" meaning, when you arn't thinking of the (dur) i couldsee the mistake being made very easily..just not with word like german..yeah

I'm going to assume you're a New Zealander, based on your name. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

New Zealand also has a similar crazy "you don't have to go to school" rule that allows for home education. Most of us manage to emerge knowing the possible meanings of "German".

(Certainly, most of us emerge more competent than those whose educational pinnacle thus far is NCEA )

Well, I had a hard time understanding his accent, but he read it and said it himself correctly.

What an idiot, I'm ashamed that I was in his age group few years ago.

Justin Bieber is a pretty smart person though...didn't he teach himself how to play like three instruments? I don't like his music though, but whatever music is music, a lot of people find it nice to listen to so I'm not going to be a tool and jump on the bandwagon, neither will I assume anything.

If I had stayed at home for 15 years and do nothing but eat, sleep and shit (because obviously he wasn't educated or even raised properly - who wears a beanie on an interview?), I would probably learn an instrument or two myself.

But I'd rather know something about the world than be a shallow teenage c-word, then grow up and at the age of 23 flip burgers at McDonald's.
