So the video is old news by now, but what I wanted to talk about is the incident as a whole.

Do we really live in such a boring depraved society, that we have to complain about EVERYTHING? The program is aimed at pre-schoolers, they aren't going to think "oooh boobies" they're going to think "oh I like this cute girl singing with elmo" It just baffles me how easily people get "offended" by everything and anything.

So what do you guys think? do we complain too much in todays society, or are these complains really justified?

I think it is ridiculous. kids seeing bare boobs has no negative effect in anyway, if anything it would have no effect. most kids breast feed then then all of a sudden its bad if they see someone with a low cut dress. its just silly if you ask me.

I agree with you Toasty.
The only thing I could come up with that's slightly harmful, if I'm really trying, is subconsciously, but subconsciously what?

The reaction may have been a bit much, but I understand it. I wouldn't exactly want my preschoolers watching the show if they made a habit of showing cleavage. Beyond that Katy Perry's music isn't exactly appropriate for children. At all.

She's not a good role model for children, don't really care why they kicked her off just glad they did.

Though, did she really think that was appropriate wear for the show, how is boob valley going to appeal to pre-schoolers.

If you really get down to it, not much music is. I agree though.

I'm confused as to how her music isn't "kid friendly". Name one kid that actually pays ANY attention to lyrics in a song... anyone? Cause I can't, hell I listened to Iron Maiden and other such growing up as a kid, sure didn't effect me in anyway, except that now I pretty much only listen to 80's music >.> but anyway my point still stands....

I actually liked how Katy Perry was trying to reach out to the children. Too many people now a days are a bunch of as Yahtzee said "Knee jerking lemon scented pussy wipes"

hahahaha, my thoughts exactly! i don't think most kids will think twice about her outfit or her lyrics, but seriously, let's not predispose our children to liking shite music.

Oh come on! They can put Jack Black, who was most likely STONED on set, on sesame street, or Neil Patrick Harris on Sesame street, but Katy Perry is TOO much for the kiddies?

Well, aren't PBS so high and mighty now.
Not only did the ruin the series continuity by altering the timelines with Cookie Veggie
Monster and making Oscar live in a recycling bin, they've also removed a genuinely (but not that extreme) bad influence from the show. Jeez.

If it weren't for Video Games Live and Antiques Roadshow, then I'd certainly stop watching the channel.

Then I guess I won't be allowed to be on Sesame street if I get famous, a parent might notice my Dongle hanging betweent two layers of clothing.

I don't watch SS (I'm in the UK)

But, why did she have to wear something like that on a show for Toddlers? It's not hard to cover up.
I mean, she's not THAT pretty, and her music sucks.

Well I'd guess that the only song they'd do it about is Hot n' Cold (as seen in the video.) There's nothing wrong with that video. I kissed a girl or teenage dream perhaps, but not Hot n' Cold.

And this is just stupid. Firstly, what 5 year old is going to look at that and get some negative message from it? And secondly, what's wrong with boobs?! Why do people have to be so uncomfortable with their own bodies that they have to censor it out of society?
