I spent some time playing CoD4 multiplayer on a single server, one of three for a particular clan. It seemed cool at first, the players there were pretty decent, gave me a good challenge, and I rose in rank. Then one fine day, in the middle of a match where I'm doing okay (about 25-18), I'm booted from the server and summarily banned without a word from anyone. I decide to go to the server's forums and put up a post asking why. Not that I care too much about being banned from one server when there's literally ten thousand more on my list, but I was curious as to why it had happened. The post is taken down after a short exchange of which server it was and who was adminning at the time, and I find that I can go onto the server again. (I was never told just what it is I did to earn the ban in the first place.)

From that day on, one of the admins (I'm guessing it was a junior admin, since he didn't seem to have too much power) would accuse me of hacking whenever I killed him. Didn't matter if I shot him in the back as he ran past me in an alleyway or shot him in the chest as he rushed towards a doorway I was defending- it was obviously only due to hacks that I could ever manage to best him. I was far from the only one, though- anyone who managed more than two or three kills on him was immediately accused, and though this one admin didn't seem to have the power to ban or kick people outright, he didn't have any trouble calling in other admins who would apply the boot without so much as a word. Even those who spoke up in defense of anyone accused were threatened with banning for "talking back to admins".

I really had my fill of the place, though, when this very same junior admin was called out by other players for abusing a game glitch. Not only did he admit it, he insisted that his clan supported using glitches- and two others in the clan present on the server confirmed it. Hypocrisy has always been a bit of a big red button when it comes to pissing me off, and boy did that event ever slam down both fists on it.

I don't play on that server anymore, and I don't miss it.

These reasons. I can't think of anything original that I have been booted for.

Epic fail.

EDIT: Being a host myself, I can understand why lots of people say they think they're getting kicked for being better. I own a clan in Sauerbraten and am always the host, so when we're having a match and I set the mastermode to open (so others can join without going into spectate mode), and every single time some elitist hacker comes along and starts kicking the shit out of my, and I kick him. Then he comes back and flames me for an hour or so about how I kicked him for no good reason and that I'm the leader of a clan of douchebags.
Then I permban him.

I give up playing multiplayer L4D. No matter what, if you don't do everything the way the guy who never closes his mouth wants you to do, you will be kicked. I have never seen so much PMS in one game, and I play Call of Duty.

For coming within inches of winning a game of "capture the flag" almost single-handedly.

I was so close to the goal with the last flag when I was kicked that when the screen went black I honestly expected the end-game scores to pop up.

And you also did it too Vinny, and he got super pissed off. But he doesn't have the power to kick you.

For playing better than the host.
This. ^

I used to play Combat Arms quite a bit and host's love to kick anyone who kills them 'cuz they think you're modding/hacking.

And even when I didn't get kicked, I usually had at least one dude ***** the entire game that I was modding just because I killed them. It's hilarious.
Oh God I hate Combat Arms now. If you get at least three kills in one life, you're a hacker to them. That's why I left.

For breaking the rules on a tf2 server that posted no rules, apparently I am not allowed to taunt after a kill...
oh and for apologizing to a teammate for my genuinely crappy connection resulting in a missed cap once. I literally said "sorry, I'm having problems on my end" and she (yes, thats right) responded "don't worry about it". An admin kicked me a few minutes later for complaining. It was probably for the bes though, I was Lag spiking at that server. (for those who don't know you basically stop moving and the rest of the server shakes or studders for anywhere up to 26 seconds, the auto-disconnect threshold. You usually end up dead.

I used to play on Live, but I switched over to Steam after my 360 stopped playing any copy of Left 4 Dead. I'll have to try a random matchup on Steam sometime. Up until now, I thought it was just because I only played with friends.

For leaving burn marks on the grass, on a map that must be a least a few square miles of grass.

Being japanese.
(Im not)

(The why)
I went to play CoD2 online, on my old account, and the host and his buddies saw my name, assumed I was japanese because of it, and thus extremely good at all video games, and kicked me out. Ofcourse, as I am really good at CoD2, they would have likely lost to me anyways. (CoD2 is one of the few games I brag about)

Healing one of my teammates in L4D. Guy was apparently trying to prove how "Hardcore" he was by going through the hardest campaign with 10 health.

I didn't know at the time, but I think the mic cord was frayed, so a horrible cackling, screeching sound was being emitted whenever I use the chat button, so I guess it was justified...

For getting to many BS headshots, and because me running fraps slowed the other guy down. Both of which are bullshit, I get headshots because that's what happens when you aim at face level, and how can Fraps (a program that was using 644 kb when I looked in the Task Manager) slow down someone else enough to make them suck.

I was in this game on Warcraft 3 and the host was ordering around me and my allies. I kindly told him that most of us were pretty good and we did't need him to control every little bit of what we were doing. So he spamed the chat with insults directed at me and I got kicked.

Once in left4dead 2, when The Passing campaign came out for PC, I was playing and it was on someone's local server and I was trying to play properly. I almost got kicked for that because he was 'trying to learn the maps' (which I thought 'then play singleplayer').

Anyways, later that same server, other people joined and one guy got the M60. The host said 'gimme the M60 or I exit' and the guy did not give it to the host. The host exited. It then went back to the lobby, to which i was selected as host. I changed the server from local to best available dedicated. And then me and the guys i was playing with played properly and we had fun. :D
