so lately i was watching on youtube some old shows from my childhood (mostly cartoons) and sudenly i noticed all sorts of meseges that i didnt reconize as a 5 years old (not so suprising) for example ive been watching this anime called "shinzo" exept the terible terible (yet awsome) dialoge the series was rather apealing to me as a child now when i watched it i sudenly notice the very obvios message that the show is trying to pass about caring and helping the ones you love at all costs at times i myself see this message as a very importent one and a solid prinsaple (sory for the misspeling) that i live on to this very day so it was nice to see a kids show (and not even a very well known one) trying to teach this importent message...
so what other importent messages have you seen in your revisited childhood TV?

Well, I didn't actually watch Ren & Stimpy as a kid, but...I can't really remember any proper messages from shows I watched as a kid.

Fine, I'll be that guy.
It's an anime. All anime boils done to love, friendship, and willpower. *Disclaimer: I watch anime so I know this is true*

Yes that show was very disturbing and the world is better off with it cancelled, FOREVER.

I remember Superbook, It taught me very important biblical lessons. It was my first Anime series. It will always have a special place in my heart.

I recall watching Dinosaurs some time ago, years after I first watched it as a kid and suddenly I recognized all kinds of social commentary. I'll admit, it was a rather long time ago, so I can't remember which episode or message it was in particular, but yeah...

Watch a few disney movies from the 90s and you'll notice all kinds of jokes and messages that aren't clear to children. The opening song to Hercules has vermouth in the lyrics. There are dozens, but that's the only one I can think of off the top of my head.

yea the disney movies... they had some creepy mesages for example the message from the litle mermaid (or however the hell you spell it) was preaty much that obsesing about a guy and giving up your life for him is normal... but they had some fine ones...

I noticed in an old episode of transformers, the ones with the kids and Mini-cons, that the message was that we shouldn't cut down Trees as they were apparently a "endangered species(?)" and that we should do everything to protect them. At the time I thought it was telling me that trees felt pain and every time one was cut down it died.

If I didn't do it, someone else would of. I, being the paragon of everything good in the world that I am, took one for the team and became that guy. No need to thank me for my selfless sacrifice. I didn't say it exclusive to anime, nor that it was necessarily a bad thing. I meant this merely as a light hearted jab at anime.
And so at least I'm contributing, Sonic satAM. And the original opening of Aladin had "here they cut off your ear if they don't like your face, it's barbaric, but hey, it's home" before they changed it.

Is it too obvious to bring up cartoons like Tom and Jerry or Looney Tunes? The other one I always remember that I didn't understand as a kid was the reference to dressing in drag in The Lion King

Well I don't think this count since I got the message straight away but I going to mention it anyway-
There was that episode in Powerpuff Girls that deal with Feminism and equel right. It was something like the girls try to capture a feminise villain but she convince them that males are jerk and etc. Miss Bellum and Miss Keane were able to convince them the proper logic to it and they fought her while explaining it (yeah I know it's abit hard to explain)-
