Eipok Kruden it looks like the escapist wasn't a good place to get an opinion on this. I suggest you try somewhere else. Everyone is now assuming your a killzone/ps3 fanboy that thinks any game with a good score definitely means its the best thing ever. Also, we seem to be getting the "no game deserves a 10/10 a perfect game is impossible" idiots that don't seem to grasp basic maths ie. 9.95 rounded to one decimal place is 10.
Yes because one review automatically is indicative of how good a game is no wait it isn't.

if it got a 9.9 then we know it's crap. No game is that close to perfect
You're either stupid or you're one of the biggest skeptics I've ever met. Games CAN be great. It IS possible.
Well Mr. Killzone Fanboy (as if you can't tell by your avatar), by saying this, you have revealed your bias in this story. Posting news about gaming is fine, but when you do, at least TRY to look somewhat neutral. I know that nobody's truly neutral, but posting this out of fanboyism, then blasting anyone who's not a fanboy just makes you look stupid.
What? There can't be near perfect games? It's impossible? How does saying that it's possible to have near perfect games make me a fanboy?

With a score like that then skepticism is more than justified. From experience this is usually the case

Because this game will look terrible in a few years - therefore its not perfect. If anything, games such as Sonic the Hedgehog or the early Super Mario games are closer to perfection, because they have stood the test of time, in a way I am certain Killzone will not.

Killzone will recive high scores because of its graphics...to me its just another FPS. A genre already dominated by Halo and COD.

If it's so great why not just give it a 10? This is another reason not to use numbers in reviews, 9.9, really?

Actually, this was annoying me a couple years ago in the Olympics when I saw the most amazing thing I've ever seen (it was one of the Chinese men doing a vault) and it got a 9.95 or some nonsense, but now they've changed the scoring rules so there's no telling what's a perfect score anymore. Wow that got off topic in a hurry.

yeah but halo and cod will also look poor in several years, the FPS genre is better on the PC (yes yes, I'm a PC FPS fanboy, sorry!, solder of fortune rocks, halo is pants blah blah), but the point is Killzone is in the same boat as halo and cod.

Kudos regarding Sonic, Sonic 2 is as good today as it was all those years ago.

Listen to me here for a minute (or read here, actually). What about MGS4? That got perfect (and near perfect) scores by the bucket load. So did the original Devil May Cry, and who can forget The Sims? Farcry 1 (you know, when Crytek still owned it and before Ubisoft royally screwed the series inside out). I could go on, so I will:
Half Life (all of them), portal, left 4 dead (enough valve games), Grand Theft auto (all after number 3) Final Fantasy VII, the list continues to go on and on and on and on...

P.S I am defending the game because games are able to be good, and I have full confidence that this game will be good.

Shit like this will get 'leaked' as long as it suits SONY. Do you think it would still be up if it was at the other end of the score scale?
I hope it is a good game, but I could not give a toss really.

Reviews are just a way to tell indecisive consumers what to buy, or to tell 10 year olds what the next "addictive substance" is going to be. Why worry about what reviews say?

Nothing is perfect, it was just the best at the time. Everything can be improved.
10's aren't perfect. NOTHING is perfect. A 10 means the reviewer liked it a whole lot and thought it was one of the greatest games he or she has ever played. Everything has room for improvement, even if it's just little stuff. I can nitpick Portal all day long, but I won't because it's one of my favorite games of all time.

Hmm, you have a point. Though may I point out that I found Super Mario Bros. Deluxe (Game Boy) To be perfect. Then again reviews are based on people's opinions.

I don't care about scores. I could give an example but you know why.

I will buy it and I will probably play it online for several days and enjoy myself because it's really hard to fuck up online multiplayer in an FPS (I look at you FarCry 2).

Far Cry 2 :( One of those games that's nicer to look at than to play. The only thing I like about Far Cry 2 is its map editor which is so fantastic for a console game (I have it for my 360). I made pyramids and bases and massive towers and beautiful lakes with all kinds of islands all over the place, but the way the multiplayer is done is just so horrible. I don't really like the gameplay that much.
