Well, there's the kind who instantly assumes (and loudly proclaims) that anyone better than them is a cheating homosexual. However, I'm no fan of weighted companion snipers either. http://www.ubercharged.net/2007/12/04/players-you-dont-want-on-your-team-fortress-2-team-weighted-companion-sniper/

That is probably the best explanation I've ever gotten about public games. Honestly, there's a huge lack of communication, coordination, and overall "teamwork" in just about every multiplayer game I've ever sat down to just jump into.

That said, that's why once you've had enough of that, you play with friends, clans, guilds, teams, structured groups...

And have like 15 IRC channels open waiting for a CPM pickup...

I hate it when a Medic in TF2 has 100% Ubercharge, gets shot at, and rather than make both of us invulnerable, turns and runs like a pussy.

You must have bad luck with pubbies, I tend to find some good people that you can work with on random servers/rooms.

It depends on what I'm doing at the moment. If I'm sniping, I hate the teammate that sucks at sniping yet decides to follow me around and proceed to camp one of my spots. I also hate the sniping teammate that doesn't move around. In BC2 I hate the teammates that can't fly so they decide to use the helicopter as a one person quick-transport to the enemies, where they proceed to crash into the ground or get shot down. If I'm assaulting a position, I hate the teammates that don't use at least a somewhat stealthy approach. If I'm defending I hate the teammates that don't defend the objective. And the single thing I hate most in teammates is if they see themselves as a "one-man army" and the act like elitists, and every single time they die they complain about hacks.

I can overlook most bad gameplay as long as they just suck and need practice but team killers and people who scream annoying shit into their mic should die in a deep dark pit.

"Medics" in Battlefield Bad Company 2 who don't heal or revive. Sure, in the beginning you don't have the items, but when you get them, USE THEM.

10 year olds.
Parents need to be properly educated that "Game Experience may change during Online play" = NOT FOR CHILDREN! You are going to meet rapists, arseholes, trolls, and people who realise that your parents ARE that stupid to try to raise you via the internet and make you pay for it.

People who ignore the objective.
The scene is TF2 and you are playing Control Point mode for pretty much any map. The enemies have the point and they are holding it well. Everyone goes into "Kill them all so we can catch the point safely mode", and thats Ok. So your team chooses Snipers and spies only for thinning-out-the-enemy purposes. But Spies are flimsy and they have the point, so Snipers can't find enemies on the point, because they are busy flanking Snipers. Then there's 10 seconds left. The team either A) brings out some real classes and owns the enemies and loses because they forgot that this is CP and kills mean less than nothing, or B) They're are all dead and can't react quick enough because of flinging MOAR SPIES in hope that it may work.

Bad choices for the team.
Again, TF2 (it's my game, so get used to it). So the enemy has set up a pretty good offense/defense. You can either respond by outclassing them skill-wise in every respect, with every member on the team being a pro. OR you could make a cohesive team and be more powerful than the sum of the parts. So because not EVERYONE plays in a clan, or learns every weapon from the bullet-spread up, you need a cohesive class structure. You need enough medics to go around, you need explosives to focus on sentries or their medics, and you need flanking classes to confuse the enemy. And lo and behold, out come the best flankers of all, SPIES. 4 of them. So now you beg your team "4 Spies ain't working, we need some Soldiers, or Demos if we got them". Does everyone catch on? NO! The try to backstab PROPERLY now, try different spy tactics, and of bloody course, try to show those shit spies how REAL spies should work by switching FROM Soldier TO Spy.

To add to this thread, I hate people that constantly do not listen and then subsequently blames the team for losing the game. This probably fits under "Self-promoted leader" for me, but I do try to ask people nicely to stop doing what they're doing that is not helping themselves or the team and try to suggest something, such as the need for more "x" classes (TF2) or for a proper item build (DOTA, LoL, HoN).

The sniper.

"Lol I don't know how we lost, I mean, most of us were just standing in our base taking potshots at the enemies while maybe two people actually attacked."

I'm a close quarters person, and walking to the objective only to be insta-killed by someone half way across the map is frustrating.

Well, at least they're easy kills under the treads of a vehicle.

pretty much this. mostly trolls and people who say "our team sucks" when we were losing a game of people who are probably MLG players and when we tied say "wow, i cant believe we won this"

now im not the best gamer, but at least I try to apologize if i kill a teammate or get in the way and cause both me and my teammate to die.

I dislike players who think that doing very little for the duration of the game will somehow cause us to win it. Campers camping one doorway all game? Love it. Cannon fodder players who don't learn from their mistakes? more of them please! Every player not doing anything to win the game is another player i have to make up kills for, along with deaths trying to take an objective.

Off topic: I had a guy yesterday on MW2 message me after a game telling me "not to get excited" because I did 38-9 and that it was because his whole team was camping. Thing is, he got 9-15 that match and worse the match after. Even assuming this guy was good enough to think that it was sheer luck that I killed more than I died he has no credibility, and even blames his team for his bad performance.

I guess I also dislike people who blame their teammates for their own shortcomings.

I've had many. I guess I call them a bad teammate if I ever stop and ask myself, "...What are they doing?" As soon as that question is asked, there's an imaginary timer in my head that starts going. If they don't do something awesome, like discovering something I didn't know or killing an unseen enemy, then I hunker down and decide to go Rambo.

Assassin's Creed, Brotherhood as an example. Going around and killing stuff by yourself is awesome, but its poor teamwork. So you rock. Nice job. Being a good teammate in this example would be if they occasionally appeared and aided the other player. Not to jump in and kill someone.

The kind of teammate I hate? The one who uses the mic for reasons other than the game, complains, feeds the other team, etc.. As long as they help out the TEAM, its a good teammate. They may still suck, but at least they understand that helping will make the final score better.

Funny story came to mind when reading that.

It was a defensive game on Mountain Lab, a three-point CP map.

We were hardly holding the second point: Demomen, Heavies and Medics kept wrecking our shit while an Engineer had a teleporter spewing a new enemy to deal with every few seconds.

Playing as a Demoman in hope to slow their progress, I suddenly hear someone say over the mic "Well we lost it, every go Sniper" in an extremely sarcastic voice.

Confused, I open the class screen.

SIX. SNIPERS.

Thank God, that guys comment and mine ("Holy shit, there's six Snipers!") lowered the number to two of them.

I hate the cocky kind. ...You know, the kind who think they're all that, and act like they're not even playing multiplayer.
Especially little kids who act like that.

It takes all my self-control not to kill them off myself.

I hate teammates that kill me on Halo Reach to still the tank.
Happens to me too often. I rush the tank with Sprint, because I can use it. (Most people go WHEEE I'M INVINCIBLE Then boarded boom die. It's actually quite fragile.) So I got in the tank, and this guy stands on top of it facing the cockpit. He then proceeds to melee the hatch off, causing superficial damage to the tank.. then melees me to death. And steals it. And then minutes later gets exploded. So frustrating.

I loved it later though when I went over a hill bit with a mate as gunner and me driving a warthog, and I can't see whats just past the hill driving along- Oh look there's the bastard oh dear me I can't turn in time or slow down to avoid running him over I'll just keep rolling right on over. :D Squish.
