So let me understand this. A douchebag (and there is no adjective that can sufficiently qualify "douchebag" for this guy's actions) falsely accuses an innocent man so that said douchebag can drum up publicity for his own book, titled "Kindness in America" (my emphasis added). I think we can show this person just how much kindness there is in America. Just let me grab my telephone pole and coat it up nice and good with wasabi sauce; chop it up a bit for some splinters just for effect. Also, you might you to tell him to bite down on something, cause he may feel a very significant "pushing" sensation.

Damnit. If you can't count on Americans shooting random strangers, what can you count on these days?!
Dry British wit.

OT: I don't think it's a question of if he's in the shit for doing this. Wasting police time is a crime. It's a case of severity of punishment.

That's...

Ok, how do you shoot yourself in the arm and make it look like you were shot from a passing vehicle? Wouldn't you get powerburns and cover yourself in gun shot residue and all?
A cheap, disposable jacket, once disposed of never even existed. Viola, no powder burns or residue.

Yeah really, when I first saw this story I was like, "Yep, that's about right." Now I see it's all a sham and I must face the fact that it might be possible to drive around America without getting shot by a stranger.

A terrible day.

Or.. he says he shot himself in the arm so the other guy would be off the hook so he could demonstrate 'the kindness of America'.

That was meant to be a dumb joke but it's actually almost plausible.
I was thinking that as well. Truth being stranger than fiction after all.

Pretty sure there is some kind of charge he can be laid with. Falsely accusing someone for shameless self promotion is wrong.

I hope they throw the book at him too.
I know they can easily do filing a false police report and reckless(or negligent) discharge of a firearm. There might be more.

That shit-eating grin he is giving us in that picture doesn't really help his cause at all.

At first I felt sorry for him, now I feel nothing of the sort. Just another wannabe author wanting attention.

This guy was willing to send an innocent man to jail, perhaps even for years, in order to promote his own book?

This guy is evil.
He admitted he faked it?

And somehow I'm not surprised over this, I guess my cynicism gland feels better about itself now.

Rather sad if he has to shoot himself to get people to buy is book, makes you wonder about the quality of the book.

That is why you should hire proper PR instead of doing it yourself. A proper PR person would have shot their client for them and ensured no-one got banged up for it either.
Indeed. You should leave the PR stunts to the professionals.

Read about this yesterday. It was sad. I'm a big irony fan, and missing out on something like this is a huge loss. What, him? I don't care about that dope. I don't even remember his name.
