With Microsoft's press conference in full swing they started it off showing some bigger titles that cater to the hardcore crowd that now support Kinect.

Mass Effect's inclusion of Kinect scared me when I heard it was a possibility, but when it was shown off in process, it looks like something I might use. My family bought a kinect and it's been collecting dust. Ghost Recon had an interesting use, I wouldn't use the gun shooting mechanics, but going through the gun customization process seemed pretty smooth.

I'm sure they have some more games to show off eventually, especially ones that solely utilize kinect rather than an option.

I'm surprised a RTS game hasn't been announced yet, I'd imagine a kinect RTS game would work out pretty well given the click and drag interface and voice commands it could issue. I'm sure Tom Clancy's End War 2 could come to fruition from that.

What do you think of how they are utilizing kinect? What would you want to see?

How is it used in Mass Effect? Keep it spoiler free! Like, don't even use proper names. I'm so spoilerphobic I quit watching when I saw they were showing ME3.

Hold the phone one damn second.

You've seen Mass Effect 3? And how it uses Kinect?

Fuck the topic, tell us more about that.

It's pretty good stuff, nothing too intrusive. You can recite the lines you want Shepard to say rather than selecting them with the controller, and issue voice commands to teammates to move where you are looking, as well as stating powers to use.

Yeah, that actually looked pretty good. You use the controller for moving and shooting, but when issuing orders to your teammates, you look at the location you want them to interact with and say something like, "Liara-singularity", at which point liara uses singularity at that area.

I think that's how it should be handled. Kinect should augment the controller, not replace it.

I'm still iffy about how Ghost Recon handles the gun-play though. I hope they allow for voice commands and the controller. I don't like the idea of holding up one arm to control aiming and another to do gestures for shooting.

Fable looks as though it has become a bastardized rail-shooter now though, so I guess one casualty has come from this. Although Fable has been in a down slope with every release in my personal opinion.

well its an interesting use of the kinect, but if tali doesnt respond to my "get on your hands and needs and wiggle them hips to distract the enemy" command doesnt work, ill be disappoint.

The voice controls in ME3 looks (sounds) cool. Nothing intrusive to the actual gameplay, and you can speak to squad mates and tell them to perform tactical maneuvers. Not sold at all on the shooting mechanics of Ghost Recon.

Fable really went down a cliff on this one. It's now a rail gesture-er with lots of lag between gesture and on screen action. Even if they fix the delay, it still looks terrible.

I dont think it well be bad. The mass effect kinect looked like it was pretty cool.

But on a core gamer site such as this people on the forums are going to crucify anything that has kinect.

Seriously, I would pay an extra $5 to NOT have that stupid purple banner on my copy of ME3.
Seconded. I don't mind Kinect features being put into the game, but don't mess with my boxes!!

Kinda like preferring not to have one with "PS2 Greatest Hits" or something on the cover. It's ugly.

I will put this image in as many threads as possible today. It will be slightly less hateful this time, though. This is what it looked like to shoot a gun in Ghost Recon using Kinect:

He is using his left fist as the reticule, and then the right to make explode-y motions to pull the trigger. Why he is hunched over like he's got a slipped disk, I do not know. It looks more like he is driving a car than anything to me.

When they make a kinect that can work in a smaller space, count me in. Until then I have no interest.

Ah, well that sounds cool. Not that that I'm even close to getting Kinect, though. I wonder if this was part of the "tweaking" that they mentioned in the delay announcement.

All right...now I'm gonna go back to avoiding ME3 threads like the plague. I want everything to be a surprise.
