I didnt get to watch all the conference because of the time it was on, although I was told it was PS4 exclusive and haven't had time to look into it.

Regardless, I wasn't going to get a Xbone anyway, but this game has just given me a reason to go with Sony, amongst others.

I love a lot of square games: the PSOne Final Fantasy games, Chrono Trigger, etc.
But I guess I'm not as excited as I should be.

1) I don't care about Kingdom Hearts. I actually think it's not that good a franchise: incoherent mish-mash of characters (pointless cameo party), surprisingly confusing story considering its childish behaviour, conflicting visual styles (anime character with Goofy's shoes - what?!), the franchise has way too many spin-offs (that are still canon) and jumps around too much on its timeline. On top of that, the environments were always insultingly limited and I didn't think the gameplay was all that interesting.

2) Final Fantasy X-2 and XII had already slightly damaged my faith in the series - gameplay was still enjoyable, but characters and story were lacking - but after FF XIII and its direct sequel, I am being very cautious. Plus, the gameplay looks like Kingdom Hearts meets Dirge of Cerberus: Final Fantasy VII - which, if true, does not interest me in the slightest.

Whilst I think it's been confirmed that Kingdom Hearts will also be available on the Xbox One, it feels sacrilegious to play it on anything bedsides a PlayStation.

For anyone else who is just as excited as I am for Kingdom Hearts 3 finally getting some development time, I give you something for nostalgia:

God that's so beautiful.

And also I'm excited for Final Fantasy XV, simply because I enjoy ARPG elements, but would like it to see outside of just Kingdom Hearts, and would like it as a reason to get into Final Fantasy. Also, Nomura, just saying.
That song brings back happy memories. I remember first getting Kingdom Hearts, playing it, and loving it. Then Kingdom Hearts II came along and I loved that one just as much if not more.

It is really hard to believe it has already been eleven years since the release of Kingdom Hearts and seven years since the release of Kingdom Hearts II. I feel old now.

The KH trailer also brings back fond memories too.

Just an FYI, but it's actually confirmed for both PS4 AND X1. Seems kinda out of place on the new xbox though.

I can't say much about FFXV. I have a crappy internet connection and the video lags like hell for me. To be honest though, I can't imagine it would be much more comprehensible even if I could view it fully. From what I've seen, it seems there have been platforming elements added - not a fan of those in ARPGs I must say. I still like the look of it though.

As for KH3... y'know, I'm not as excited now as when I was when I was watching the Sony conference, and the words "Disney" and "Square Enix" came up on the screen (it took me a while to pick my jaw up from the floor). I think it's been dulled by the realization that we're not gonna see this released for years, knowing Squeenix. Hell, I could have a wife and kids by the time this game comes out. It just feels like the start of a long, bitter slog of a wait. Still a day one purchase for me though, whenever that day comes.

Eh, it is Square Enix. I have long, long lost respect for them.

To me, Final Fantasy has pretty much lost all appeal. I don't know why people still hold out a vigil for both Square Enix and Final Fantasy when there are better jRPG franchises out there. There are plenty of other Japanese RPGs out there dying for attention but some people seem to seem to ignore them because they don't have the Final Fantasy brand that Final Fantasy VII made so famous. What kind of credentials does Square Enix have to be hot stuff anymore?

Me, they're going to have to slowly but surely if ever prove themselves back to me. Because nothing at all they do particularly excites me anymore. Including this. I don't need Final Fantasy when I've got Tales. I can bet on Namco Bandai and Atlus to give me some amazing RPGs in the coming years. Square Enix? Eh, they can try to gain back some modicum of respect I've ever had for them. I'm not going to pre-order anything they make as it is. I buy all of their products used and cheap. I don't even really respect them enough to buy their products new. If Final Fantasy XV were Persona 5, yeah, I'd pre-order it in a heartbeat. But it isn't, and at the rate they're going Square Enix probably never will be the equal of Atlus.

It is a nice jesture though that they're finally doing what the fans they have which are still around, have been asking for for years. It has been years and years that fans have been requesting both Versus and Kingdom Hearts 3. So good on Square Enix for finally delivering. They are at least making some improvements.

Sadly, that isn't enough to make me a fan. Final Fantasy is nothing in comparison to Tales and Shin Megami Tensei for me. I may buy Kingdom Hearts 3 a few weeks after launch. If I have the money.

I'm definitely looking forward to them.

The recent handheld Kingdom Hearts games have been really good (I would probably rate BBS's gameplay above 2's), and it will be great to see all the improvements they've made applied to another major console title.

I don't always like Final Fantasy, but I appreciate that it does something significantly different every time, at least in terms of gameplay, and XV looks like it could be an enjoyable new direction. I just hope they can recapture the pacing of earlier games, as opposed to recent entries that have been plagued by weak openings, poorly handled exposition, and insufficient communication to the player.

Damn, I was thinking of making this thread or something similar...

Anyway, I am so excited for Kingdom Hearts 3. Saw a video Abridging the Sony conference and at Kingdom Hearts 3 it says: "I'm a grown man. I should be this excited by this game."

Couldn't have said it better myself. Even now, I will joke about how stupid the concept is. But the game works and works well. Seriously, Kingdom Hearts is better than it has any right to be. And I am so excited to play this new one.

FFXV, I am a little more composed on. While, I didn't expect to actually get excited for the next game in the series, I can say that I am a little excited. Not sold on it, yet, as I want to see some actual gameplay and come to understand how it works. But, I am interested to see what this game does. It looks beautiful, which is expected. Hard to comment on the story, though. But I was intrigued by the world they seem to have built. And as long as we're actually doing what we saw in the trailers, this maybe a Day One purchase for me.

Damn Square, why do I keep coming back to you?

I just have little to no faith that Kingdom Hearts 3 won't also take 7 years and just end up being a massive cock tease that is disappointing.

Basically: I don't trust SquareEnix any more, no longer are they my beloved friend holding many of my favorite designers, now they have one fucking guy, Tetsuya Nomura, whom I like, and the rest seem like they'd rather be making movies than games. More importantly the figurehead that was responsible not only for the companies salvation back in the NES days with the creation of Final Fantasy, but also for every good game in the series, has long since left the company to form his own (which much to my annoyance seems to be content making Xbox exclusives, ugggg).

My close friend Squeenix has long since evolved in to the evil mega-corporation SquareEnix, and I don't care if they popped out Kingdom Hearts 3 and the Final Fantasy VII remake next year, they still wouldn't have my trust, and I'd still be leery of both games. Now if Versus XIII and KH3 come out in a reasonable span of time and are both well made and enjoyable then the company can win back some loyalty, but I'm not about to forget all the absurd cash in shit SquareEnix has been doing for the past generation, nor am I going to forget the company is little more than a soulless money eater since it's heart, Hironobu Sakaguchi, left.

Ironic really, that Square turned in to a cold, unfeeling Empire, just like the one's so often featured as it's games antagonists.
