I really wish they would revisit the Hunchback of Notre Dame, the world really did feel sparse. I'd be tempted to say it was a limitation of the handheld console, but to me the Olympus Coliseum felt the same way in KH2. My suspension of disbelief is very flexible, but having the sounds of roaring crowds within the coliseum but with absolutely nothing in the stands just did not cut it for me.
Ah you kids today.

When I was a kid playing video games you had to use your Imagination for stuff!

You know what I would love to see in the next Kingdom Hearts? A couple of worlds not based on the movies, but Cartoons instead. Give me Ducktales, Gargoyles or Darkwing Duck, and you would better believe I would cold bloodily kill a man if it could guaruntee a level of Gravity Falls.

What I'm worried about is KH 3 turning into "The Avengers/Frozen Power hour" due to their popularity.

I'll be outright shocked if there isn't a Frozen world but I'm not sure who the villain of that one would be. Hans wasn't exactly that big-time. They'd likely end up with some kind of fight that involved fighting Hans while also fighting frozen creatures spawned from Elsa's torment or something.
I'm not at all familiar with the Kingdom Hearts, so I'm not sure how much creative control Disney has over it, but if they can they absolutely WILL cram Frozen in some of the sequels. They've been milking the movie obsessively, so much in fact that despite loving it movie, I'm starting to hate seeing anything related to it.

But in regards to Elsa, I'd much rather see her as an ally, given how she's one of the most powerful characters in the Disney "universe". I'd love to see a situation where Sora (that's the main characters name, right?) are in trouble, surrounded by an army or a group of powerful baddies and Elsa just swoops in being all like: "Booyaah motherfuckers, ice powers!"

The thing about Kingdom Hearts is that it's made by Square Enix, which has full creative control over the franchise and even full marketing rights (or so I presume given that the only official KH merchandise has been made by SE, not Disney). So Frozen isn't necessarily a given. From what I can tell with the other games, there has never been a thing with trying to give lots of screen time to one of Disney's big releases. Tangled was out when KH 3D came out but there was no Tangled world. So I'm very disinclined to believe Disney has any stipulation with their relationship with Square that would require them to promote major recent releases.

The way it's structured, even if they included a Frozen world, it would be a mini story contained within itself. The main characters of Sora, Donald, and Goofy fly from world to world and help solve their problems, each world having its own unique arc.

The real question you have to ask when it comes to guessing what trend might make it into KH is, how popular is it in Japan? Remember, Sauare Enix serves its Japanese audience first above all. I believe Frozen was pretty successful in Japan, but are the Marvel movies really big over there? I totally agree that Gargoyles or Ducktales would make for great worlds (they already have had Scrooge and Huey, Dewie, and Lewie established as characters, for crying out loud), but I don't believe those shows have ever been introduced to Japanese audiences. Square wouldn't introduce a world which heir Japanese audience couldn't identify.

Good point, but the thing is; Frozen was massive in Japan too. When I was there last summer, I heard "Let it go" so often in Japanese (everywhere I went) that I was starting to learn the Japanese lyrics. I can't imagine Square not wanting a Frozen world.

As for Elsa as an ally/villain - I can see both simultaneously. She would certainly be the ally of that world but then possibly leave you for a bit and show up again for the boss fight, where she isn't the boss itself but she's having a fit in the background cus
she think's Anna is dead,
and this causes lots of ice minions to appear (outside of her control) that wreak some havoc on the battlefield while you duke it out with Hans. Even though that wouldn't be exactly how it went down in the movie, it would still be well within the realms of reason. In any case, the mere presence of Sora, Donald and Goofy have served only to ensure things don't happen exactly as they did in the movies.

EDIT:

I loved it in BBS with Terra's trip to Coliseum - Zack makes reference to the crowd. "Listen to that crowd!" Camera pans around and nobody is there. I call it lazy to hear screaming fans & have nobody about, but you don't POINT OUT that fact! That's just beyond stupid!

If Frozen was included, I could easily see them adding Heartless as a major plot-point like done in Cinderella's world, and the "boss" being a pure KH villain of some kind rather than a pure Frozen villain. Or possibly coming up with a sequel-type plot ala Pirates and Nightmare. I don't think Square is under any pressure to plug popular movies, they've certainly gone out of their way to find old lost treasures before. They've made reference to the Stith cartoon show, I don't think the electric character showed up in the movies, did it?

I can't imagine doing Marvel or Star Wars because the properties are so huge, I don't know how you could weedle that down to a single level and fully represent that property.

They could use Pixar's worlds if they want to now. They haven't up to this point is that when the previous games were produced (Kingdom Hearts 2 was released in 2005), Pixar was an independent company, now it is fully owned by Disney (Pixar was bought in 2006) with all rights to their IPs as they see fit.

Disney owns all rights to Kingdom Hearts, except Square-Enix specific characters, including original Kingdom Hearts characters. Look on the back of the 2.5 box it says copyright Disney, Developed by Square-Enix.

The Horned King, Cruella Deville and King Candy are must from the list.

However you forgot someone VERY important who only this specific one I will accept for the main villain:

The Phantom Blod

He is the "real" antagonist of Mickey Mouse. Not Black Pete as it was seen in KH2.
I hope to see him as the main villain in KH3.

Also, Beagle Boys and Magica De Spell are a big plus.

I would prefer to be the "Plot Twist Real Villain".
You know, you think the real villain is a Final Fantasy kind of guy, but in the end The Phantom Blot turn the tables to betray his allies for his personal evil grant plans.
He was always a backstabing bastard already in many of his incarnations.

As cool and likely as it would be for KH3 to feature a lot of the newer villains, I don't think they're going to do another "ultimate alliance of evil" again. At least not in the same vein as Kingdom Hearts 1 had. KH1 used maleficent and the gang as a stand in villain until the big twist at Hollow Bastion, and after that, the series has become so seeped in its own original lore that the Disney villains have taken the back burner to their own worlds, save for Maleficent as a sort of secondary villain. They may make an alliance in 3 just as a side threat, but there is already a well established final antagonist for the game and the saga, so at this point the Disney villains trying to seriously insert themselves further in the plot than their world's arc would probably end up as just a "silly rabbit, trix are for kids!" scenario.

That said, I'm still waiting to see a heartless governor Radcliffe and doctor facilier would make a great boss battle.

For me, Kingdom Hearts has always been about the theme of "worlds colliding." I can't imagine they would introduce the concept of Disney villains teaming up across worlds just to be rid of it in one game out of how many of the series.

It could go either way. Next game will either be a revival or an abandonment of that concept.

The Headless Horseman from the Legend of Sleepy Hollow, perhaps? Not a deep villain, by any stretch, but I can definitely see him being used in a hit and run capacity like Sabor the leopard in the first game.

Btw, we forgot Disney have Marvel and Star Wars characters now to use.
Maybe Darth Vader and Venom make an appearance :3
