Yes, it's an Origin thread.
However, it's the first time I've used it. Because I've tried to avoid it as best possible.. but Amalur demands Origin. ~Sigh~ I'm UK, by the way. Sometimes pre-orders arrive a day early. This is usually a pleasant surprise, fun, and no big deal.
I'll need it for ME3, too.. annoyingly. This is what I get for playing PC.
Anyway, my point is, I buy the game legitimately. I receive game slightly early due to good postal service. I install the game I've bought. I install the spyware I've been trying to avoid.
And then it tells me it failed the release check, and no, I can't play the game. It won't let me.
Origin decided not to let me play Amalur, I have to wait till tomorrow. I work during weekdays, so I like to take what time I have. This annoys me. A lot. I have the game, in my hands. If it were console, I could play it. Pirates are playing it more than likely. And Origin is, instead of saying 'Hey, you got it early, but no big deal. It's singleplayer only, have some fun, we like happy customers'..
It's instead going 'Yeah, sod off, tough luck, deal with it.'
What difference does it really make? Is there a legitimate reason? If it's a multiplayer rank intensive game, I can understand to some extent. But this? Argh.
And EA wonders why people pirate. Because of the service. Provide a better service than the pirates. They can play the game, and they didn't pay. I did, and EA won't let me. That just does not seem like a logical thought process in terms of a business model.
I find it saddening that I want to find a crack for it, so I can make it work. Ugh.
I really hope this doesn't repeat with Mass Effect 3. I pre-ordered that months ago. It isn't going to be any better, is it?
TL;DR: Origin sucks, Pirates play Amalur before paying customers do, etc.
Bit of a rant. Do you think I'm justified, or do you think adhering to the specific date is the right thing? Do a few hours make that much difference?
