Any thread that has to do with girls and games. WHATEVER YOUR BEEF IS, GET OVER IT.

Also anything to do with "casual gamers", how one console is supposedly superior to another one, how PC's are supposedly superior to everything, why game x is going to suck because of y. even though it hasn't even been released yet, and how every time Portal is mentioned someone always has to type "The cake is a lie". YES. WE KNOW. IT IS NO LONGER AN INSIDE JOKE. STOP SAYING IT.

And any time an opinion is mentioned and someone gets butthurt over it because it's not THEIR opinion. I mean, is it really worth starting a giant argument over? Don't like what someone's saying, press the little left facing arrow up at the top of the browser. That's what it's there for.

Those "it's bad because it has regenerating health, a cover system, two guns," arguments against games. As one staff member on this site said, it's not about what mechanics a game has, it's about how well they work in the context of a game.

Oh, let's just nip this in the bud, shall we? I would say that ALL kneejerk responses are bad, in that the term describing them denotes that it is without thought or care that these lines are delivered.

Incidentally, do memes really count as kneejerk responses? I figure they're more...Pavlovian.

The upcoming x game has changed x

OMG!! WORST GAME EVER!!!! ITS GOING TO SUCK!! CANCEL PREORDER BOYCOTT!!!!!!!!!FUUUUUU

even if your concerns are vaild freaking out/raging over it is jsut annyoing..

or feminism vs mensrights

"Women are supiror..MEN must be exterminated form thr world" cue "women are inferior and men are now the most opressed!"

hey you BOTH horrible now go away
I've noticed this in other threads, but you really have a grudge against mens rights, huh? Do you mind if I ask why? I mean I can understand not liking extremist, but I don't think everybody who supports mens right are extremist.
I may come across that way, but I dont have a grudge against mens right....its clear that there are mens issues that need adressing

what I DO have a grudge against are men who act EXACTALLY like the "evil feminiests" they seem to go on about all the time...

they lurk all around opinion blogs..and as a female who's interests are hardly feminine I cant help but get a bit defensive when someone on a blog says somthing along the lines of

"women...they reject all guys untill they hit 30..THEN they want mr right to settle down with, but TOO BAD ladies we are all dating the younger ones.. they only care about your money, they just want to suck you dry, they just want to controll you," <- hey ,fuck you

and no I dont think extreme feminists deserve a free pass, they are almost worst...confusing the message of feminism, giving amuntion to those MRM twats and turning it into one big clusterfuck...

which makes me wish people didnt get so hung up on gender at times
hmmm...fair enough.

I agree with spot1990 on that one. Or when someone dies from a taser and the media immediately brings up the debate if they are acceptable or not.

I've watched a lot of vids where police fight suspects, and to be honest they are almost always at a disadvantage. The guy is either so drunk or high or obese or just plain tough that they can shake off baton swings, mace, punches, even the taser isn't foolproof, I saw one video clip where a guy ripped the barbs out when they tased him and it took FOUR taser hits at the same time to take him down. It's frustrating to see police abuse their power but some are clearly justified, like the video last year of the cop punching one of two females who are obviously fighting him.

I hate how the media is so quick to portray police in a bad light whenever an incident is caught on tape. It's easy to sit back on our fatasses and say what he should have done, it's quite another when a confrontation is happening in your face and you have zero time to think about what to do.

Cries of "police brutality!" and "OMG FASCIST STATE" over any incident of real or perceived (or fabricated) misconduct by law enforcement.

Folks, they're people, just like you and me. There are good ones and bad ones. All of them make mistakes from time to time. Most of them are just trying to do what they've been trained to do while hoping that they don't end up dead in an alley after pursuing an armed suspect.

I'm not saying such injustices don't happen. All I'm saying is that you keep things in fucking perspective.

Probably that I havent seen a single death penalty thread where someone doesnt say.

'the people who are pro death sentance are also anti abortion, how does that make sense?'

How do you know that about every single person whos pro death sentance?

"How can you not care about X?"

Especially when it's something that has absolutely no impact on my life whatsoever.

The pervasive, prevalent need so many people on the internet seem to have to quote a meme at the first opportunity that presents itself, as though there's some kind of quota they have to meet or risk spontaneous combustion.

There's the always classic "ZOMG CoD?!?!? THAT GAME SUCKSSSSSSSSSSSSS AND YOU ARE A MINDLESS SHEEP FOR BUYING INTO THAT!"

I mean really? You're going to judge a person for liking a single game? That's madness.

Also I consider this a knee-jerk reaction based on the number of times I've seen it.

Person A: "I have an issue with the current state of race and/or gender in video games."
Knee-Jerk Reaction: "CLEARLY THERE IS NO PROBLEM HERE BECAUSE THIS AND THAT. SO YOU'RE JUST BEING TOO DAMN SENSITIVE. GAWD I THOUGHT IT WAS OBVIOUS THAT THIS HAS BEEN SOLVED LIKE A MILLION BAJILLION YEARS AGO. EVERYONE MOVE ALONG, THERE IS NO ISSUE HERE."

Okay, so most people aren't that obnoxious and loud about it, but after reading so many responses like that that's how they come across to me. xD

I'm not saying that Person A who brings up the issue is always as coherent as my example (unfortunately Person A tends to have the curious habit of coming off as batshit crazy), but I do find it strange and somewhat annoying how the knee-jerk reaction that so many people have is to shout reasons that either claim the issue doesn't exist at all or justifies it's current existence without anything more than that. :3

especially when females get banned from the battle 3 launch party because the gamers are going to act like slimy hobgoblins (look its the principle of the thing)

however, that said, I dont have too many issues with the female/game thing...Im good..more or less

I hate it when people refuse to take a side on something. Like when you see a poll with three answers, a Yes, No, and Neutral answer. And nearly everyone has picked the Neutral choice.

"INDIFFERENT" is not condusive to discussion people! If you don't have an opinion, don't waste your and our time by telling us such. Likewise, thread creators, leave neutral choices out of polls. It only encourages said behavior.
That's a little silly isn't it? What if you believe neither side?

eg.
Who do you worship?
a)God
b)the devil
c)neither

fun fact: this was from a a christian leaflet pushed through my door today. They went on to explain that b & C were the same answer of course.

I'm sick of people being overly cynical and paranoid about the Government. The government aren't villains trying to throw your children under trains people. Please, for the love of God, think and view things evenly. Yes - sometimes the state does bad things. Sometimes they do wonderful things. Stop acting like it's ALL bad and even when it isn't bad they are just waiting to strike again.

Also, this:

This in particular has led to this ridiculous wave of new pseudo-intellectual libertarians all over the internet.

Well, the obvious answer is that if you don't believe in either, don't answer the question?

You`re right, that is unfair. I was mostly talking about when people start whining that games make you play as a man and there aren`t many girls involved in the development side of video games. It`s just been discussed to death. Sorry, I should have made myself clearer. XP

Any time someone mentions used games and someone brings up the completely false comparison of used cars. That drives me crazy. I mean, the comparison isn't really any more valid if you compare used games to used movies or music or books but at least you'd be comparing entertainment media as opposed to two things that have absolutely nothing in common except the word used.
I've done this before... I feel shameful now...

It made sense to me at the time, but hindsight is 20/20.
Thank you for admitting it. Hehe But, really, there certainly is a good bit of discussion and debate possible within the topic of used games. There's valid points on both sides but any actual honest and logical discussion dies as soon as someone brings out the eminent "used cards" line and people start piling on that topic instead of actually thinking about what they are saying.
