This story arc is kinda interesting but I haven't really found it all that funny. I miss when this was just a comedy web strip. Maybe if the story went a little faster it wouldn't feel so slow.
Wow. Erin is officially a vile ***** with no redeeming value. Can we please wrap up this story line with Erin being murdered by all the people who are sick of her bullshit, and then continue the strip by focusing on different, actually LIKEABLE characters?

This is actually really interesting.
Been some time since I´ve been genuinely curious how a story arc in a webcomic is resolved.
(Though I admit, it´s in part because there are just so many ways this could end really badly for both Erin and the comic in it´s entirety)
Also, I´m a bit confused, not by the comic itself, but by Grey´s post

What, in this case, is "the wrong thing" and what are "the right reasons" ?

I think that's the problem. If you have to alternate the comic arc with unrelated comedic interludes every other strip, I see that as an admission that you don't find your own story all that funny. This arc has gone on for ages now, and doesn't seem to be going anywhere. I use the term "Arc" loosely, as they typically have progression and an end game. There is none of that here - just lots of indulgent, meandering wangst. It's not funny and not interesting.Upbeat Zombie said:

Cerebus syndrome is not always a good thing. Yes, it can be a sign of "maturing" if done right, but a lot of comic authors don't have the ability to pull it off, and it ends up melodramatic and silly. See: the miscarriage arc in Ctrl+Alt+Del. OT: Erin seems like she's getting back to her roots to me. She was kind of a dick when the comic started, then became less so, and now she's a dick again. But yeah, I'm glad random guy decided to grow a spine and stop letting her walk all over him with her bs. This arc is moving a little slow though. I'm less interested in what's gonna happen between them, and more in why random guy lives in a bare apartment.
It isn't wasted breath. If writers take the time to read through the feedback (and all writers do), they may acknowledge common criticisms and adjust their output accordingly. Darker and episodic is all well and good when it is all well and good. They aren't on this occasion because the pacing is poor, the tone is off, and the drama seems too flat to make up for the sparse humour.hooksashands said:
