This reminds of parents trying to convince their son that his dog didn't die, that s/he just went to live on a farm somewhere.
That's what I was thinking.

Or that scene in Forrest Gump, where his mom claims his dad went on "vacation."

Anyone else think that Kojima looks amazing for a 52 year old man?
HE'S 52! The dude looks like he's in his late 20s.
If he was ACTUALLY in his late 20s, then he wouldn't have been born yet when Metal Gear was released in '87. XD
The age matches and is appropriate.

"We've received word that Hideo Kojima has left your company..."

"No, that's not true. He's simply gone on vacation following a lengthy period of game development."

"Ah. And reports that your old, popular IPs are only being used to make slot and pachinko machines?"

"We're aggressively broadening the market demographic for our licenses."

"...And those four former members of Kojima's team who were allegedly weighed down with cement and thrown into the ocean?"

"Exploring recreational water activities."

Sorry, Konami. You've already lost my trust, and from the sounds of it you do not appreciate your most important employees. True or not, you can go fuck yourselves.

Yes, Konami is totally still keeping him around. They need his expert skills to help them design their new like of pachinko machines.

Actually what i heard is that theres a quirk in Japanese law that says someone has to use up all thier remaining vacation time before they can officially leave a job.

You think hes amazing check out Hirohiko Araki.

From this I can only conclude that Japan has discovered the secret to eternal youth and is not sharing it with the rest of the world. Neither of these things surprises me.

"We took him to a farm up state".

Yes, this is true. And Kojima and del Toro are still actually working on Silent Hills in secret while publicly stating it's been cancelled just so fans can experience the true horror of having their hopes and dreams crushed. Then when it actually releases in two years, it'll sell millions of copies.

You know, despite my sarcasm...this actually sounds like something Kojima would do, doesn't it? Just remembering all the fake stuff leading up to the reveal that The Phantom Pain was actually MGS5, I could totally see Kojima trolling the fans this way.

Still, I call bullshit.

I wonder if Konami will ever get tired of being wrong and sucking.

I'm completely open to the possibility that it's this:

Actually, it's very likely true.

He's 'on vacation'. Until his contract is up in December. THEN he's gone.

You've never used up your time off when you knew you were leaving a job?
Or this:

But even if it's one of those, Konami is either completely delusional, thinking that Kojima will actually stay despite the metric tons of writing on the wall that says otherwise, OR, they're just trying (and failing...horribly) to save some face before the reality of Kojima's official, on paper departure sets in.

I mean, seriously, this is the company that says that the only bigger-budget game they're going to make is Pro Evolution Soccer; other that that it's all mobile games and panchiko machines...what could Kojima possibly work on if he stayed past December?! How gullible do you think we are?

(sighs) As as Jim said, "Komani is Konami, and Konami is the worst."

He hasn't left...he's just on vacation.

Hrm...I'd want to confirm that from Mr. Kojima himself.

Konami knows that it's going to be irrelevant to the gaming community this time next year. They're going out with a blast. 2015 was the year of Konami's incompetence, just as 2014 was the year of Ubisoft's incompetence.

UP UP DOWN DOWN LEFT RIGHT LEFT RIGHT B A START

*Instantly destroys Konami*

It's what they've been showing us all along!

OT: So, in brief...

Kojima left and looks better than I do while I'm 20 years younger.
Konami is possibly more spaced-out than Space Dandy.

Okay, this was important to know. Good work, everybody!

*removes 30 years of age off of Kojima's body*

OT: Yeah, more like he's on vacation until his contract's up, like other people have pointed out. Konami is just burning their bridge to the gaming world so that they can hope to cash in on a more lucrative market. However, if the gambling thing fails in Japan, Konami may have committed self immolation by doing said bridge burning. And I would bring, and share, the popcorn.

Duuude, I think you nailed it. Still, I wonder how long it'll take before Konami realizes just how hollow it is without their star person. After all, it's like this place without Yahtzee.
