They better not repeat the mistake they made with Godzilla by showing the monster less and less.

Something is wrong when Godzilla 1998 had more screentime (and I like that movie)

Yeah, I saw the new Godzilla on Thursday and boy I saw why people disliked it. Here comes a monster fight scene... oh, they went to the next scene. THE FUCK!! At the airport and near the subway in San Fran.

WE WANT MONSTER BATTLES!! Not a kid watching the news about it or closing the door. If it were in the trailers, then fine, but not in the actual movie. Oh and the soldier guy was way way too lucky. So close to death and yet kept being in the middle of everything so fast. The movie felt so off.

I was dissipointed because I felt decevited by the marketing. Bascially I thought it was gonna be a differet kind of movie.

I thought it was gonna be portrayed as like a disaster movie, keeping with the themes of the very original first movie of Godzilla that the monster represent Nuclear Destruction incarnated and made flesh.

Like it was gonna be like Steven Spielbergs War of the Worlds, watch this scene and replace the Tripod with Godzilla, this is what i thought the movie was gonna be like:

Nah, instead, that scene, if it were Godzilla, would have just moved away from that and went to the screaming girl. Gareth Edwards, the director, is also doing Rogue One. Directors can improve and learn from mistakes. I hope.

I liked War of the Worlds, minus the screaming girl and rebellious teen son. That disaster movie feel would have been great. Showing that man can fight all they wish, but when faced with forces of nature, it's a losing battle. Godzilla was sadly just flat.

I quite enjoyed Godzilla and this trailer looks interesting, so my hopes are high. Plus Sam Jackson, Tom Hiddleston and John Goodmen are all in it, so it'll be entertaining no matter what, and that cast alone is good enough for me to see it regardless of the premise.

I get the rebellious teen son, but I found the screaming girl appropriate because she was scared out of her mind I mean look what is going on, Alien invasion, people being vaporized, the world has gone to hell.

Heck I was like 13 when this movie came out and it freaked the hell out of me.

True. She was scared and I get your point. A lil kid seeing, well, aliens fucking shit up. When you are younger, everything in the world seems bigger and to her, the big things are falling down around her.

...what the fuck did I just watch?

This isn't King Kong. This isn't Godzilla, no matter what the filmkakers might think. Godzilla is, in theory, a metaphor for the horrors of nuclear war (no idea how it became a monster fighting series, but then, never been into Godzilla). King Kong, on the other hand, is a story based partly on the same themes as beauty and the beast, partly based on "Man vs. Nature." So forgive me for not being impressed about the premise of "let's go and blow stuff up and hunt a giant ape, because god damn it, we want our own cinematic universe with wisecracks and blackjack and hookers!"

Since it's done by the same people who did Godzilla, I wonder if Kong will have more screentime than him?

Either way, I'm not that hype up for it just yet.

I'm telling you they should have went with the more "Horror/Disaster" movie angle with Godzilla 2014, it should have been like Speilberg's War of the Worlds heck the Trailers were giving me that vibe:

YAY,MORE FILMS WITH GORILLAS!

OT: I am always a bit worried when studios start making sequels of brilliant films, particularly in the sense of adding new techniques that might not fit with the old techniques. I hope they don`t muck it up with King Kong stopping mid-fight to drink a giant Gatorade as advertisement.

Here's Kong right now:
That doesn't proved anything. Ok sure he is more visiable in the poster compared to the Godzilla poster and the same apply to the the first trailer but time will tell if we see more of him on the big screen.

Looks neat to me but as a giant monster fan, I always found King Kong kind of... I don't want to say lame but not as interesting as, say, Godzilla. Not puttin' down the big ape, I'm just saying in terms of hype for me, if Godzilla's a 10, Kong's a 7.

But like I said, still looks cool and BOY IS HE BIG. And there's something I find very interesting about him standing up straight instead of being on his knuckles, it's got an, I don't know, classic feel.

And as long as I'm here, I loved Godzilla 2014. I'm a fanboy, I'll admit it and I don't blame anybody who disliked it, hell, I also think know that we've seen a good extent of his strength, there's no good reason to hide the Big G anymore but I thought the movie was good, just throwin' that out there.

Ha, Tom Hiddleston doesn't have much to say in this trailer :/ Despite being one of the leads...

But it looks fun. Jackson's KK was at least top 5 worst movies ever

Some of the scenes in that trailer are giving me some serious Vietnam War Movie vibes. Also, that's the second biggest monkey I've ever seen.

The only way that could be true is if you've only ever seen 5 movies, which would make Jackson's KK top 5 worst by default. Now if you'd said 'top 5 biggest disappointments' then you might've had a point, since disappointment is all in the eye of the beholder, but there are many movies that are far more inept in every way than even the worst Jackson's KK has to offer.
