this is just as bad as the bullshit about the me3 ending when will it end.
Except this actually protects consumer rights as opposed to trying to make a game ending not suck.
the right to be assholes are the only rights i see being protected these days
That is a right just like any other but if you buy something than you fucken expect it to work so they have every right to complain about this and if you don't agree then you shouldn't complain about their complaining.
so if i don't agree with bullshit i should just stick my head in the ground?
How is wanting a game to work bullshit?
the thing is the game does work just because you live where there is a lousy connection doesn't change that basic
Actually south Korea has better internet speed and coverage then we do here in the states, the argument from the story isn't about personal connection speed or anything, its about an investigation into if blizzard purposely didn't buy enough servers to accommodate most of the people wanting to play.
so blizzard gets screwed because people are butthurt about the lack of servers
Blizz insisted on requiring an internet connection for anything in the game, which means that they are responsible for making sure that everyone can play the game, they get absolutely no sympathy from me, you wouldn't see this bitching if they had an offline single player mode but they wanted everyone connected, which means they better effing keep that connection up and stable.
keeping a connection stable is different then the lack of servers. The servers are stable there just wasn't enough of them so unless you have info about them not planning to add servers i think this part is done
I'm saying if they want to force the player to constantly be connected even if they are playing single player then they better make damn sure they player can get in game when they want and that the connection is stable and with very little lag. Blizz was really retarded when it came to this, they forced it even in single player and they will be stuck paying these server costs forever, they will never not go away.
well we're both set in our ways so i say i'll be over there if you need me playing d3 haha.
And Ill be playing something better that also doesn't require me bending over for someone.
bending over really that's what your going with. what's this better game
Its pretty much what your doing, bending over and taking it, there are more than a few publishers who are watching what blizz is doing very closely since they really want to force this always online thing also.

Startrek online, binding of issac, gratuitous tank battles, take your pick.
didn't like and its an mmo, don't like, haven't played. i'm not "bending over" for anyone and whos the idiot who thought of that anyway
You are bending over, your telling blizzard "I don't care how consumer unfriendly you are, I want your game more than anything, just shove it right up there along with anything else you want to please."
lol keeping telling yourself that it won't make it the truth no matter how many times you say it.
And yet you are still doing it as opposed to saying "this drm is bullshit" and it is drm, regardless of whatever lies blizzard says.
give it up man. i have yet to see any drm that's bullshit regardless of what the general public says

Always online connection is blatant drm even if they don't call it that. You can tell it is because its required even for single player.

Wait, the product doesn't work, it's clearly not the customers' fault, and therefore the customers are assholes?

If the refunds happen, I'll be happy. Consumer rights in the game industry would be a nice change of pace.

so if it doesn't work for some people the rest of us need to get our knickers in a bunch. if that's the way it is then the games that don't get translated are in the same boat

I... don't really understand you're trying to say here, because it sure as hell doesn't make sense compared to what you're quoting.
The point of my post was that you should be able to get refunds if your game doesn't work and it's not your fault, like with any other product you can buy. It's called consumer rights, and you're not an asshole for wanting that.

You're 100% right about the ME3 ending drama being complete bullshit. It'd have been one thing if everyone just unanimously agreed that it sucked and moved-on, but it grew to a sickening level of the standard "gamer entitlement". That said, sometimes gamers are 100% in the right to feel entitled. It's one thing when they insist that a game (or it's ending) "isn't good enough", but when you just full-on can't play a game because of it's DRM methods? Yeah, it's refund time. And this is coming from someone with a lot of customer service experience and it sick of all the BS reasons that customers will come-up with to demand a refund on something.

Uh, you know that's what this newspost was about, right? The reason Blizzard got raided was because they weren't willing to give refunds.

And yes, games are covered by consumer rights just like everything else. You buy a product that doesn't work, you get a refund. I know games companies doesn't want it to be that way and say "but but EULA" every time it comes up, but that's no excuse to deliver a product that doesn't work. And thankfully, the Korean FTC seems to be recognizing that.

Doesn't matter how much or how little research was done. A person paid $60 to play a game, not stare at an error message.

Well yes, if the product doesn't work for some people, then for those people, the product doesn't work. Pretty cut and dry. They're completely right to demand a refund.

If it doesn't work for some people, then it goes without saying that the product doesn't work for the people in question.

Also, just to make sure we're on the same page here: I'm not talking about the online only-thing here, I'm talking about people with internet connections not being able to play the game they paid good money for. This is entirely the fault of the company, thus the customers are entitled to a refund.

not really when they said before hand that it would need a internet connection to play it. its not there fault people missed that

So how come this hasn't happen to the US yet? The anoumt of Error 37 we had to put up lately (happen in the last two days) and the other problems going on with that game (Auction House not working and the accounts hacked).

Pretty sure those extra Korean servers got taken out from somewhere else, say Europe, where """"service"""" has sucked immensely as of late.
Tell me about it, the last couple of days the servers have been down every time I wanted to play.
They're still down? :O

In that case, hell yeah they should be ordered to give the money back. If piracy is theft, so is this.

Is there any movement to do the same in the US or UK? Because there needs to be. I've never played any of those games and don't intend to, but I still want to see the customers be on an level legal playing field with the publishers.

they have the right to a refund if its problems on the server end if those problems can't be fixed ever. if it a problem of patience of the players end then they should get a fake lump of coal

Look at these Blizzard fanboys desperately trying to defend their master, (pathetic drones are pathetic), and failing miserably at it.

I wonder what their reaction will be when the FTC rules against Blizzard.
