Do you agree?

Though, in his defense, activision did just donate $1 million to veterans.

Oh Kotick... you so crazy.

Still its good to see a donation to a good cause, even if it is (I'm pretty sure) just for publicity.

I dunno... if you're playing aren't you usually killing soldiers? I can't see how that is a salute to veterans.

Do you hear that?

'Tis the sound of my /facepalm.

It's got fuck all to do with veterans; as one of the only decent comments I've ever seen on N4G said, just because FIFA 2011 has footballers in doesn't make it a tribute to them.

With the first 2 he might have been able to get away with this more easily, but he's still just trying to paint his fat, smug face in a slightly nicer way.

CoD isn't a tribute to anything. Maybe the first 2 games were. Everything after that was made only for the profit.

I'm not going to say they don't care about vets, but for a company that sold 9 quagillion games yesterday, they can find $1 million in their couch cushions. Come on Activision, cough up that money and make it rain on those vets! You know you want to.

Yeah, because being able to eat a million and a half bullets and live after tele-knifing 10 US Marines is a tribute to your soldiers.

I am glad they donated money, but Call of Duty as a tribute? Well, maybe to some sure, but Call of Duty is more like a game that aims at being as over the top as possible. I don't look at CoD for an idea of how the armed forces is like. In my opinion, its about as accurate as Fallout 3 is at representing a nuclear wasteland.

I think now's a pretty good time to restate my thoughts on BlackOps

Me said:
Since it had the option, I will not be buying Black Ops, and I will tell you why.

I will not be buying Black Ops because Activision is publishing it, and the CEO of Activision is Robert "Bobby" Kotick. I do not wish to support that man with my money, even if it's only a paltry $60 compared to the million's he'll make off of everyone else. As a result, I am pretty much "boycotting" Activision, I guess you could say. I will not buy any of their products until either Kotick is removed or cleans up his act. This may result in me missing out on some great experiences, but that's my loss.

However, I do understand that other people are very excited for the game, a few of my friends included. I wish no ill towards you all for wanting to buy Black Ops, it genuinely looks like a nifty game. There is absolutely no reason why you guys shouldn't get the best bang for your buck.

And so, with this, I wish all of you who are purchasing Black Ops a good game. I, personally, will not be purchasing it for my own reasons and you will be purchasing it for your own, and that is perfectly fine. I'll probably play the game with my friend, split-screen and whatnot, or borrow it if he gets it for PS3.

Enjoy your game. I mean that in the most sincere way I can.
Anyway, On Topic, HA, don't make me laugh. Actually, yes, make me laugh, I need one right now.

I feel like im in backwards land, Bobby Kotick was the last person I expected to say something I have wanted all publishers to say for a long time.

Of all the games, i think that Call of Duty 3 had the most cohesive story. You could look at that game and think "yeah, this is a nod to those that played a part in retaking Chambois".

Although other games are based around actual conflicts, they're not really presented well enough to be a tribute. World at War is my favourite game, but i don't think that it really did the soldiers that took part in the battles of Peleliu or Okinawa, or Seelow/Berlin justice.

But don't get me wrong, the series isn't a tribute to anything.

Prepubescent kids yelling over their mic about how big of a fag you are and how awesome their killstreak is, while running around dual wielding shotguns from 1887 is not a tribute...

Since when is the Cold War a "tribute" to the soldiers of today?

Kotick, only idiots ever take you at face value honestly.

Well Kudos for the donation. Even though it was likely a tax break, at least it will go somewhere where it is needed.

As for the comment, Yeah, Call of Duty is a tribute and in no way shape or form an attempt to whore the military out for personal gain and profit, No sir.
