limit Force Users?

In KOTOR?

I understand the want for Force Users to be rare, as was the case for the original SWG

But If I don't get to play a Jedi in a KOTOR GAME then I'm not going to play, it's really as simple as that.

Noone who played KOTOR is going to settle for being anything but a Jedi, because the game is about BEING A JEDI.

And you can have a single player campaign in an MMO.

FFXI did it, WoW is starting to do it. Sure, there's a lot of Multiplayer stuff, but there is also a lot of stuff that makes you feel as if you're a vital part to something larger.

KOTOR is just a name, not a genre. Deal with it. The game isn't about being a Jedi, it's about the OLD Republic, back in the heydey when the Republic faced many enemies from within and without, the Mandalorians were still led by Mandalore himself and killing the hell out of people.

You either limit Jedi to an epic tier class, or you make EVERYONE a Jedi.

Lightsaber katars. I thought it up years ago and would love to see it used in a video game.
Uh katars???

It's basically a punching dagger. Replace the blade with a lightsaber thing for his idea, I suppose.
There's different kinds. It's a whole class of weapons that all are held by a handle like this one and are used for punching and slashing and that kind of thing. I was thinking of the kind with three blades on it (yes, it actually exists) It would be just like what he described, with three blades going straight out. Think of it like Wolverine's claws. Actually, that's exactly what it is, katars were the inspiration for that.

Force Unleashed has tonfas....that's fairly close from a design standpoint.

The one with Three Blades your thinking of are referred to as Neko-te. Remember Lightsabers can't bend, and are always straight and somewhat tube shaped. A Light Saber Katar would look a bit... dumb.

and I vote the latter

and KOTOR is about being a Jedi.

KOTOR 2 even starts you off as a Jedi

All in all, the MMO is a terrible step

If you don't agree, that's cool

What about the light whips mentioned earlier? They, obviously, can bend.

Uh... I don't think theres ever been "Light Whips" in any movie/game/book.

I do agree a KOTOR MMO sounds a bit dumb but I trust Bioware has something unexpected for us. I'd rather make Jedi limited, make them badass at their epic tiers (Jedi/Sith, Tank-Buff-Healer/DPS-Debuff-Nuker). The fact it's set in the Old Republic time period means advanced technoligy like Cortosis weave weaponry in KOTOR, personal shields, makes Jedi less OMGWTF PWN. Plus theres always that freaky little slug that eats force powers.

it was used in several comics actually, much to the chagrin of fans.

Why would I look dumb? It would be a really acrobatic jedi using it, like did anyone play the Episode three game? It would be like that chick you fight closer to the end. And they wouldn't have to bend. They'd just be mounted on the handle. If done right, it would be a different, and very effective weapon.

I wonder if it's going to be like WoW where you join horde or alliance, but in this case Light side or dark side, but wasn't the main point of KoTOR your choices make who you are, I guess we'll just have to wait to see how they'll figure out that part of the game.

I'm just of the opinion that fancy kind of lightsaber does not = win.
I'm with you on this one. It's a lightsaber. It doesn't need to be a whip, or a katar, or a tonfa.

Why is there so much emphasis on eastern weaponry? A standard lightsaber isn't a katana.

I'm all for basic lightsabers (assuming we still get the short and double bladed varieties as well), I was just pointing out that light whips are canon bending light...blades?

I would prefer KOTOR III to an MMO, but, I'll take what I can get I guess.

I don't really think it'd be that bad if every player was a Jedi. How is that really different from any other MMO where you're an adventurer of some kind? Adventurers are more powerful, a step above the common people, like Jedi.

However, it would be interesting to have a limit of some kind as well. I like Wombat's idea about force sensitives, but I think it should be taken a step further. Nobody can choose to be force sensitive, but there's just a slim chance that any character made will be, like 10% or something. And make a limit of like 3 characters per account or something.

If you do make a force sensitive character, they can have the raw, untrained buff/aura powers, but to become a Jedi or Sith they need to go to a Temple somewhere and train (do some quests).
