Before you rage on me i really cant wait for it.
But who will be interested in buying it except people who want something new?
I am afraid the game will not sell ENOUGH to make the develepment worth it.
Hardcore Sandbox fans:No
hardcore Shooter fans: probably not.
Hardcore Rpg And Jrpg fans:probably not.
I only named some of the bigger genres.

Im afraid If La noirse faills developers will be too afraid to try new things

Edit: i Mean it Probably wont be Respected for what it is many will probably trade it in

To be honest, I hadn't even heard of LA Noire up until about a week ago. I'm still not quite sure what the game's about. But I will be renting it whenever I see it, I like surprises.

I was going to avoid it because I thought it was a GTA clone, but now that I have heard more about it I'm definitely going to get it. I'm pretty sure a ton of people will buy it just because it's by Rockstar and they haven't looked into it. They'll either be greatly disapointed it isn't a new GTA, or (hopefully) they'll end up enjoying it anyway and it will be hugely successful.

I've been looking more into it because it doesnt seem like a mindless shooter or sandbox game.

This may be my fanboyism speaking here, but LA Noire is going to be game of the year. I can almost guarantee it.

How many sales do you consider a success/fail?

Also, do fans of one thing only buy one type of game now-a-days?
To answer your first question, the number of sales should exceed development and production costs to be successful. Simple answer.

To answer your second, people tend to stick where they feel safe. Not everyone is experimental.

Call of Duty fans are one basic example.

It looks like it's going to sell. For some reason, it makes me think of a hardcore Heavy Rain that's actually a game. Besides, it's something different, usually something good?
...*Looks at WET* ...Okay, 8/10 times it is.

It all depends on Rockstar finding its own niche crowd and how large is that crowd.
I hope they won't get stuck in the red becaue of their little wager against CoD.

Yeah, I will buy it and that's all that matters to me. I don't think Rockstar is going to stop making innovative games even if L.A. Noire flops. (By innovative, I mean interesting new settings and features. I do understand that a lot of their games could be considered GTA clones, but at least they are interesting GTA clones.)

I don't know anyone who is a "hardcore sandbox fan". I feel like it's only the hardcore shoother fans that only plays one type of game. (they suck) ^^

Many Hardcore gamers who play a variety of genres will buy L.A noire because it's gonna be a good game.

Well, it seems that alot of people dont know what it even is but it looks like GTA so they'll buy it, then they'll think it's shit because it's not what they expected.

Looks good, but doesn't seem like the kind of game i would like to pay £40 for though, so i wont be getting it.

I won't be buying it. Maybe is my flawed impression, but it feels just like Mafia I and II--and I didn't get II either.

If tries something new and different, for the sake of the industry I hope it sells. Otherwise it can going in the 9.99 pile at Gamestop.

We'll see about that, Vincent, my money is still on Skyrim.
It will defiantly be a close race, sir. RS is selling Noire as an interactive movie, the voice acting is top notch, and some kind of new motion capture technology, I'm kinda fuzzy on the details, But It's going to be an outstanding game.
