It's a Rockstar game, I'm sure it will sell just fine.
Funny, Rockstar trying to make a story heavy game is exactly why I don't care for this game at all.
Not sure if anyone else said this yet, but the game was developed by Team Bondi, not Rockstar. Rockstar is just the publisher.

This may be my fanboyism speaking here, but LA Noire is going to be game of the year. I can almost guarantee it.
People said the same thing about Red Dead Redemption, and......yeah, it almost did get Game of the year.

It's something really new and interesting, and the whole pick your cases in the order you want to do them thing sounds fun.
Red Dead Redemption did get game of the year
My mistake then, I thought it got a bunch of awards except that.

Yeah it won a couple GotY awards, not sure if one is more important than the others though

I really don't think there was any doubt that this game will make Rockstar a s#!t-ton of money.
Last year, before RDD shipped, many people claimed, that it will fail. The only thing Rockstar fails at with new IPs is delivering more than one every half decade. Sure this game is made by Team Bondi, but consider this for a second: They market this game under Rockstar's name, so you can be sure that they were really taking care of the IP. Like, for example, BMW. It is a German car manufacturer, sure, but a couple of models are build in the US. And only there. So like Rockstar, BMW has to make sure, that all product shipped under their name, reach the same quality standard.
As mentioned before, consider Heavy Rain. Now this was a huge leap of faith for the publisher. But both the mature script, characters, and presentation appealed to a broad audience and the new gameplay made many curious. The same things can be said of LA Noire. Sure many fans of other Rockstar games will moan and whine about the missing free roaming elements. But that is like Edgar Wright fans complaining about the lack of zombies in Scott Pilgrim.

So no, I don't think LA Noire will fail.

I don?t think so, this is Rockstar we're talking about they got deep pockets and are well known developer so they'll definitely catch the attention with L.A. Noire. Hell they already have it. And most of it is coming from the less hardcore gamers out there. L.A. Noire looks like a risky experiment, but one can re-brand GTA series only so far. I'm sure Rockstar can do it. With the new face capturing techniques the many great actors involved I think L.A. Noire has a great opportunity to bring in new gamers.

I thought that Red Dead was a good idea and execution, even if the content didn't interest me, but having seen screen shots, trailers and in-house remarks and commentary on LA Noire, I can't help but feel it's constraints.

An open world is great, when you have multiple open world options, it just seems from what i've seen so far, that it's driven itself down a one way street with the setting and storyline.

I've seen enough to know that I'm not interested at all.

I hadn't really heard much about it until about a week ago. I still can't say I know much beyond the name, but it seems interesting enough that (assuming my research turns out favourably) I'll be buying it.

I will be buying it at some point. So far, Rockstar hasn't brought out a game I am dissappointed in yet. Will I be paying £40-£45 for it? No. I have never paid £40 for a game in recent memory and I am not going to start now. Will I think it will be popular? Yes I do. I know 3 people that have pre-ordered it already.

I'm curious, I keep hearing people say that LA Noire is "incomplete" and you need to buy multiple versions from different places to get the full game. Now from my research only Gamestop offers new cases, while everyone else offers clothing. So what's the big deal?

I won't be buying it. Maybe is my flawed impression, but it feels just like Mafia I and II--and I didn't get II either.

If tries something new and different, for the sake of the industry I hope it sells. Otherwise it can going in the 9.99 pile at Gamestop.
This is how a felt about LA Noire it seems the stories from that age just seem cheesy. I hope it sells well so we can get an new GTA but overall this game is something I'll watch a playthrough of instead of buying.
You two need to watch the videos for it. There's a huge difference.

someones trolling
How so, exactly? I've been worried about it myself. The marketing campaign for the game is nearly non-existent. Many people haven't heard of it until last week.

God dammit, some of you people need to learn the definition of trolling. And next time actually contribute to the thread.
I seen videos and ads its cheesy I just can't get into it.
Eh, alright. That was a tad more at the other guy, though, who thinks it's just a Mafia I/II clone. It really isn't.
They've a actually been working on this for years more then Mafia 1 or 2.

You know everyone is saying it's not open world because you can't tear down a road in a jacked car mowing down hookers while you blast de jams and put sticks of dynamite in baby strollers.

You're going to have the whole world of 1940s L.A. to explore. They wouldn't have done so much work on it otherwise. I mean, I know I have a bad day when I don't kill at least fifteen hookers and blow up every car in a massive chain reaction on the Brooklyn bridge, but you know what? I'm willing to give a detective story a try.

Plus if you think about it all GTA games are story-based. You have to do story missions to get sandbox goodies usually (gun unlocks and the like) I think people are just being overly critical.

Gamestop offers one case, and another place offers another. (I think it was Best Buy, but it might have been Wal-Mart or something).

Gamestop's is a murder, and the other one is just a traffic case. So...no idea what those people were going on about.

I have no idea either, it's one case in a 40-60 hour long game

I'm getting it day one, so they'll at least have my money. I love film noire, I love detective stories, and I'm starting to love Rockstar. What could go wrong besides everything?

Well I know I'll be buying it. Its a fresh look on gameplay that doesn't break from the story. If you ever play a game where you kill every single person in a room and don't get called on it, then I take issue with it.

This looks like a cop who will actually be constrained by laws which is pretty impressive. And the mere reason that that statement was written only makes it more impressive.

Its one of the few times I will actually say "Shut up and take my money!" to the store clerk. Should be good for a laugh.

I'm confused. You seem to believe that people only buy games in one genre per person. This is, um, not the case.
