To be completely honest I have never really heard of the game. Sure iv heard the name mentioned probably two or three times but never actually who makes it, when it comes out, or really anything about what its about.

It is rockstar though so even if it sells 20 copies its not going to hurt them enough not to continue to experiment.

This game actually had an ad campaign? I havnt even heard anything about it.

It's not a massive ad campaign. I have no idea where he got the idea that it was. A decent one, sure, and it'll probably get bigger once it gets to the days before release, but I rarely see anything beyond border ads on websites for it.

OT: I've only seen the trailer on television, but it looks interesting albeit graphics looking a little outdated.

I've heard nothing of this game other than the first trailers that were released last year, haven't followed any news on it and couldn't even tell you what type of game it would be for sure. But it's Rockstar, so I can assume it'll be a sandbox/shooter hybrid with some sort of mystery element in there. And you know what? That's enough to make me rent it, which for me usually leads to purchases.

Okay, no. Its good, I will give you that. Very very good, on any other year it would sweep the GOTYs. But 2011? This year? No, Uncharted 3 has that in the bag.

^^ Uncharted 3 FTW!! As for the game not doing well?? If memory serves correct, Heavy Rain did pretty well and that wasn't really a "Fanboy friendly" game....

considering the fact that there are hundreds of thousands of people who play GTA,i wouldn't say it wont sell enough...though it will cause a lot of GTA fanboys (not normal fans,i mean the 9 year olds who yell to their mothers through their mics) to ***** and moan about how you cant get an RPG-7/gunship cheat,even though it's set in the late 40s.

i'm sure that people who enjoy crime movies or stories in general will also like this game,especially since L.A. Noire was featured at a film festival since it was so....cinematic...anyway,you got two large audiences to cater to: gamers, and film geeks.they're bound to sell at least as many copies as they did with Red Dead (5 million units);i mean westerns aren't exactly the topic of many games,and if a western game did well,why wouldn't a crime drama game?sure two different genres,but the principle is the same,right?

(and who knows,maybe japan will release a whole slew of porno games with ultra realistic cleavage physics using the multiple camera motion capture technique they used in L.A. Noire!)

I can't believe people are complaining about heavy story and a cinema style in a game that isn't even out yet, when we have 90% cutscene games like Final Fantasy and Metal Gear Solid filling two thirds of the shelves in the stores.

We'll see about that, Vincent, my money is still on Skyrim.

It will defiantly be a close race, sir. RS is selling Noire as an interactive movie, the voice acting is top notch, and some kind of new motion capture technology, I'm kinda fuzzy on the details, But It's going to be an outstanding game.

Dude, please check facts before making this dramatic, fear mongering posts. LA Noire is currently the 3rd best selling PS3 game and the 2nd best selling Xbox 360 game, and it's not even out yet.

Flawed argument. Do you realize that 'sandbox' never catered to any hardcore market at first as well? The entire point of a sandbox game is that you get to do whatever the hell you want without being 'hardcore' in anything. Whatever LA Noire is, it doesn't matter if it's not one pure genre. Only elitists care about that, and no one likes an elitist.
