L4D: Why is Zoey a better character than Rochelle?

Also, The reason I don't like Rochelle becuase she's not Coach.

What the hell are you talking about? Zoey had lots of personality. She constantly tried to keep morale up by cracking lame jokes and sarcastic remarks, and she seems to connect with the other characters a lot. But even if she is a bit more shallow than Rochelle, she's still a better character in that Rochelle is completely unlikable. I can't really explain my main issue with her. She has that kind of useless self centered "do things my way even though I know fuck all about anything" quality about her that kind of pisses me off.

Though honestly the whole cast of L4D2 isn't as good as L4D1. Coach is that perfect combination of badass and comic relief that pretty much all the characters in the first game had, so I suppose he's the exception. Nick is cool but that's really his only characteristic so he isn't very fun, Ellis is a dumbass, and Rochelle is annoying.

Zoey didn't annoy me. Rochelle is honestly, ugly. Not only is she ugly though, but whenever she speaks...I just want her to shut up. She comes off a little too pompousy for me, and honestly, I just wish they had a better character.

I love both l4d 1 and l4d 2 characters, I prefer Rochelle over Zoey though, she seems more serious than Zoey, the way she handles herself and the entire "zombie apocalypse" situation. And they developed her in the "Sacrifice" - there she defended Ellis, from Nick's attacks about Ellis' love interest in Zoey.

Both of them seem pretty independent as people, and intelligent although this pretty much very abstract since they are infact characters in a video game. But anyway. And for the stereotype-thing I believe that people stereotype so much of reality these day, that they cannot say what is and what isn't a stereotype anymore. It's best to accept the characters in L4D 2 the way they are. Besides 50% of them are not from the South! I think Rochelle was from Arkansas or something like that, and Nick's accent is not southern at all, actually he has not got any accent, he could be from Chicago for all we know.

I honestly dont like either char. However I prefer L4D2 because of melee weapons, so I guess by virtue Rochelle gets my nod.

I would point out that I never actually cared about this debate. My favorite in the first was Francis and in the second it's Nick. But it doesn't really matter all told as the survivors are identical in any mechanical respect.

And, for the record, while Rochelle's screaming might be "annoying", I was more convinced her screams were the result of being gnawed on by zombies rather than as a result of stubbing one's toe on a table.

To be honest i hate most charaters from L4D 2 thier voices just get on my nerves and the fact bill had to die just put me off the franchise, why couldnt ellis or coach jump in from no were and actually be intresting for once.

Zoey is voiced by Jen Taylor. Who also did Princess Peach, Cate Archer and Cortana. She has throw away lines, geek references and flirtations.

Rochelle is voiced by Rochelle Aytes, who is an actress - not a voice artist. She's best known for a role in "White Chicks" and she's an sassy, urban woman who plays wonderfully... straight into the token role.

Zoey is one of the guys, Rochelle just whines.
