L4D2 seems alittle cheezy.

I'm looking forward to LFD2, as well as hoping they don't overdo the humor. I can't say which I prefer until I actually play the new one.

I'm also hoping a little that at one point they release the original survivors as dlc for the game, although I somewhat doubt it will happen.
here's a cool idea, instead of 4 survivors, a "party" of 4 selected by players (or chosen randomly by computor) but having a large selection of survivors to choose from including both sets of survivors from L4d 1 & 2. this way when a player dies and respawns they return as a different character which makes more sense

I don't think it's cheasy. The characters are actually a LOT more relateable this time, instead of having Mr. It's gunna be alright even though I just got my dick ripped off, Mr. I hate everything no matter what, Ms. Horror movie obsessive and... Bill.
This time they have Coach, the pusher who is nerotically supportive, but otherwise not falling under a catagory, Rochelle who is a relatively normal person (girl) and falls under no catagory, Ellis who is a bit of a jackass, but still falls under no catagory, and Nick who is a chronic smartass, and falls under no catagory.
I think the fact that they don't have the designated "relateable" character actually shows how not-cheasy they are, because all four of them are like any other person, something you cant say of the first game's characters.

And I, being the relatively jaded smartass that I am absolutely LOVE nick because he's me, as apposed to Louis because he's the one that comes close to being normal.
If I try really hard I bet I could come up with stereotypes that they portray, gimme 2 weeks and Ill have a report on each of them.

They're both fun in their own way.

If I want to get scared, I play l4d1,

If I want to be have "crazy-wooooooooooooooooooooooooo" type fun, I play l4d2. At least how I'm seeing it from the demo.

Now first of all I would like to say that I am as excited as anyone for L4D2.
Buuuuut some of the characters, and zombies seem a little corny.
When the opening on the demo started, it seemed a complete opposite of the original opening.
In the first L4D the survivors seemed desperate and alone running for their lives and barely escaping after a frantic shoot out.
In the new one they seem like they cant wait to carve up some zombies, or as Ellis so eloquently puts it "kill all sons of bitches."
This isn't necessarily a bad thing its just a little jarring considering the last game was so serious.
Sure there was a little comic relief every now and then with the tattooed biker dude, but you were mostly feeling desperate, and on edge.
If a clown zombie is running up to me while spouting gibberish I'm going to laugh if anything.
Im still excited about the game and cannot wait to "kill all sons of bitches" but im going into the game with a completely different attitude and it will be AWESOME!

Which do you prefer, the old way or the new way?
Out of all the new survivors, Ellis is the one I really hate.
I'd happily cut him from the final game.

I don't know why, but in the little clips I've seen I keep thinking of that teenager guy as the Scout from TF2. He even has a bat in one clip. I suppose both game are made by vaulve..

BONK!
Whenever I scored a kill with the frying pan in the demo, I felt obligated to yell that...

On topic: I too felt that the 2nd one is a tad cheesy compared to the last one. Sure, I'm only going by the demo, but I liked 1 a lot more than what I've seen of 2.

Thoughts:
1) I see no use for the charger. If you're going to make him as powerful as he is, Valve, at least make him a signature soundbyte. Too many times have I run into an alley way only to be ambushed by the world's most lopsided zombie.

2) I feel like the game has gotten easier. Sure, I looove carving up zombie meat with a machete as much as the next guy, but I breezed through the demo. Except for that one runthrough with my kid brother... yikes.

Conclusion: I'll still buy the game, but I dunno if I'll get the same enjoyment in the single-player as much as I did last time around. This is where Versus mode comes in. I await the day that I can spawn as a Jockey and run amok with that stupid punk Ellis.

Eerm... I'd enjoy it, to a certain extent. I'd definately have a "KILL 'EM ALL" attitude about the whole thing. So, nah, I don't think it's cheezy. Though then again, I haven't actually downloaded the demo on account of being all silvery an' shit.

Every piece of media with zombies in it that's any good at all is a little cheesy. It's part of the zombie medium.

Perhaps the reason they aren't scared is because the campaign featured in the demo is the last one. The parish is to left 4 dead 2 as Blood harvest was to left 4 dead.

The charger does seem like a weaker version of the tank almost, except hes faster, weaker and can grab you.

The entire game is cheesy, the entire concept is cheesy and it's supposed to be that way. It's about having fun.

All the characters are stereotypes making fun of the general "ZOMBIE-MOVIE" genre. The tatooed bruiser, the girl, the old war vet, and "the black guy"

To me this seems like complaining that a game like Ninja Gaiden's story and voice acting seems "over-the-top"

I would be much more put-off from these said games if they tried taking themselves very seriously.

I reckon it'll probably be better in this one. I love left 4 dead but admittedly I think it was trying a bit too hard to capture the tension and seriousness of the zombie apocalypse, which felt kind of silly considering the fact that you were paired up with a hot college girl, a grouchy old 'Nam vet, a macho biker who was a pussy at heart and the scared but heroic, somewhat cliched office worker and you went around fighting girls in underwear (Witches) and roided up juggernauts who stuck their tongues out at you, and might as well have been saying "Oogidy, boogidy brains". In left 4 dead 2, I like its approach of both tongue in cheek, but some levels of seriousness (Like the point in the intro where they were distraught with worry having missed the evacuations), and I like my games to be light-hearted rather than dark, gritty and serious.
