That's such a pathetic quote.

Oh yes, everything doesn't matter because people are dying.
It really just depends on what sort of issues you want your politicians discussing.
I've tried to make inroads on stopping domestic abuse, Point out logical failings in the government's environmental policies and helped to combat the obesity crisis, whilst working for an MP... Maybe I just have better things to get worked up about then a movie that quite frankly is enjoyed by a lot of people.
The only ones of which who think twilight is the best book ever, is because it's the only book they've ever read, and if the product is their gateway drug to introduce them to literature, I think it's a good thing.

The businessman forgets to factor in that no gamedeveloper would be able to handle the shame and humiliation of having made a Twilight game. I'm pretty sure even EA executives would be unabhle to look themselves in the mirror if they produced such a thing, and that's saying something.

They might be able to get the Japanese developers to make one but I don't think a rapelay clone with Edward would be entirely what was expected. It's either that or a JRPG, I'm uncertain which I would want to play less.

Now comes the question. If you can make money from an idea, does that mean it is the right thing to do so?

On a slightly related matter next month there is a "Twilight day" at the cinema where I work. All employees are encouraged (read: forced) to get into the spirit of the event by dressing up, or participating in the fun and games. Therefore I shall go into work wearing...

I feel very sorry for you. Being forced to wear that piece of claptrap shite-stain.
Good sir you misunderstand. That shirt is, in fact, the supreme embodiment of awesome.
being in all definitions a newb (the begginger form of the word, not to be confused with noob, the annoying 10yrolds on XBL) i have no idea who that is.....
That is the great actor Edward James Olmos. Famous for great performances in Blade Runner, Battlestar Galactica and others.

Atkinson Flipflops on Gamer Hate: Twilight the Reason?

South Australian attorney-general Michael Atkinson has revised his opinion on games being tools of the anti-christ. He justified his change of heart with the following quote.

"Edward's just so brooding and pale. He's just the dreamiest. Gamers couldn't possibly be evil when they play things like Twilight and furthermore..."

The interview unfortunately ended there as Mr. Atkinson had just reached a new high score on the brooding mini-game, he then got very excited and... things got weird from there...

RUN...the mob are coming!!!

How would you do a Twilight game though? Just finding different adjectives and metaphors for Edward's face?
Press X to cry, circle to cry, square to cry, triangle to cry, hold X to glisten.

I really don't see who'd play it. I guess there isn't a tween girl in the Universe who doesn't want everything Twilight related, but then again, what tween girl without a brother has a 360 or PS3?

The game industry isn't stupid. The first developer who would release a Twilight game will be shunned both by non-fans and then by Twilight fans who will say "This isn't like the movie! Edward needs more angst!". I personally hope there is never a twilight game released for any of my consoles.

How can you make a game out of Twilight?!

It's just a story. There's no possible way to turn this story into a good game.

the only way a twilight game would be any good is if it was like this

A mix of jurassic park and twilight, you play as a raptor going through the forest trying to eat the cast and crew and prevent a new movie from being made.

I would not buy a Twilight game. Who the fuck cares who banged who? There's a reason movies like As Good As It Gets, The Painted Veil, and Practical Magic like Twilight don't get video games is because they're ROMANCE MOVIES. What would the controls be? X to pine away, Triangle to feign disinterest, Square to dodge romantic advance, Circle to lust overtly?

The books are bad and the movies are terrible. Based on that i can safely say that if a game were made its sheer level of horribleness would cause the universe to implode.

Interesting that he mentions the Wii and DS. When I think of 12-40 year old women playing games, I think Flash games and Facebook apps. These are the same people playing Farmville incessantly.

But what on Earth would a Twilight game look like? How do you translate a young, indecisive woman with no self-confidence longing for the affection of two passive-aggressive, dominating men? I know; it's a game where you get beat by your husband for being friendly with the mailman, then he tells you he loves you, and you go back to cooking his dinner and cleaning his laundry. Wait, this doesn't sound like a fun game...

Maybe Twilight isn't a good IP for a video game.

Note: I've never read the books or watched the movies, so I may have the completely wrong view of what this series is about. These are my impressions from the trailers, so if I'm totally off-base, blame them for making misleading trailers.

Keep in mind that this is not marketed towards us, the tradional gaming targets that the VG indsutry shoots for. Rather, the intended target is, as was constantly mentioned before, angsty teenage (and older 8-O) females. When (not if. when) they release it, OF COURSE we're gonna shoot it down. But It'll still make millions. Why? if you ever looked at twilight fanart from deviantart, you know where this'll go.

BTW I think the game would be a dating simulator. except all roads leads to hot coffee.

We're still trying to do damage controll on X-box live, if a twilight game was made there would be no way most people could handle being assoiated with twilight.

I think the trick they are missing is making a Twilight game for the guy/harcore 360/PS3 gamers... only the trick is to make the type of game they want.

Exploit their hate.

Make a game which consists of nothing but killing wave after wave of Robert Pattinson's and get points for doing it in increasingly creative ways, like MadWorld.

Now THAT is a game I'd buy :D

It seems that the analyst doesn't realize something. Gamer culture and internets culture are inextricably linked. The internet hates the Twilight franchise with a fiery passion so logically so would gamer culture. You do not need Leonard Neemoy to point out the flaws in this shitty idea. That and the fact that other than the Scene it game there isn't much you can do with the twilight property in video games.
