If you admit your a girl you get accused of being an attention seeker and men say we should keep it quiet and we won't get bothered. Why on earth should we? Don't you guys have any control over yourselves.

I feel obligated to post this relevant (and amusing) video:

OT: I am a guy, so no.

Ok this guy on the video is just plain creepy and doesn't understand the word NO, and yeah, wow, the girl having to leave the game because of it is just wrong.

But yeah, supply and demand. Hey if they were 10 hungry guys and only 1 loaf of bread at the bakery, I'm sure we'd see some pretty ugly behaviour going on there too.

If you have ever heard of the Maslow's hierarchy of needs, sex is actually down at the bottom with food and water.

I'm not sure how to disply a picture but here it is if u want to click on it:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Maslow%27s_Hierarchy_of_Needs.svg

So with the 65 guys to 35 girls or almost 2 to 1, girls are in short supply and thus people get desperate, even more so for the socailly awkward ones who don't know how to speak to girls in real life. Now, for most normal guys, who have girlfriends or know real girls, it might not be so prevalent, but I think the creepers are just like the guys in this video.

ANyway, thats my 2 cents worth.

In the interest of full disclosure, I must admit I have flirted with other girls online, but they didn't seem to mind at all. :p
Aha, a solution to all our problems was found, guys start training your girly voice!
lol, don't encourage the creeps to be even creepier ;) :p
Ah but then the creeps wont know who they can hit on and so they will haveto back off, I'm telling you it's an ingenious solution, if nothing else it will make for some great youtube vids.

I played a female character once in the early days of WoW where mostly everyone assumed you were the gender of the character you played.

...

Never again. I got harassed every 5 min or so, and it was just a lot of illegible semi-flirting. "HEI R U GRL?" "U R RELY SECKSY" "PLESE TAWK 2 ME I WUZ JUS KIDDING :(:(:("

It was a total nightmare.

First of all, I am laughing at how few woman are actually answering this. I love being a minority!

It has happened a few times for me and it is actually really funny. The funniest thing is that it has happened to me the most in gaiaonline. The few times I get my but on that cite I am hit on the worst and I laugh my butt of at their pathetic attempts...until I remember where I am and that this person is probobly around 13 or so...then I shudder and sign off.

It doesn't happen too often because I usually play a male character in things, I'm of the attitude that the point of a fantasy or role play is to play something you are not. And I already get to be a girl everyday.

That being said...I do get hit on my girls on occasion.

I don't get hit on much but then I don't use voice chat very often over the internet.

I'm not opposed to guys searching for their soulmates during internet games. It's their hobby, and they'd like to share it with someone who has shown an interest. From my own perspective, I would just recommend that guys who look for love during their online matches, be prepared to talk about other interests to sell their well-roundedness better.

I'm respectful of girls online, I don't hit on them, they don't hit on me. We just play games online.

Some guys are probably desperate, that's why they'd hit on girls in an online game.

I'm kind of a flirt online, and I've had several guys not only hit on me, but (after frequent encounters) decide they love me and start stalking me.

I am not kidding.

It almost makes me reconsider flirting. Almost.
Where's the fun in flirting online?
Its just not the same without the nuance, the little smiles and whatnot are half the fun.

Don't judge me, due to being unable to find a mate in rl the only viable reproducing strategy I have left is to try and lure in a woman with pity on the internet, using the lines I have from a net guide on picking up women.

It's a number's game, eventually you will hit on a lonely girl who's in the crappy enough mood to let her guard down and once you have her msn/facebook she is screwed as you got your foot in the door. From there on it's smooth sailing towards forming an online relationship which you can then brag to your friends about and feel a warm glowing feeling that you have achieved what society expects of you and you're not an ultimate disappointment to your parents.

At least that's what I keep telling myself.

Also the above is a joke (save for being parents disappointment, that is all too real), I don't actually do that.

I only have a problem with creepers on games you'd expect them to be on (PS Home is the first thing that comes to mind). Most of the time I'm fine, though. [small]Probably because my voice sounds like a prepubescent boy. ;_;[/small]

Also, I don't play Cod for a reason.

I actually know a guy who chats women up online tells them he loves them then when they want to be his gf acts like he doesn't know what they are talking about and tells his friends they are a liar, I know of at least 3 women he's done that too and he honestly doesn't see anything wrong with it.

:/ I dunno maybe it's just me being oversensitive.

So, fellow ladies, how often do you find this happening? Not being teased or trolled for being a female on the Internets, but being creeped and hit on, by completely straight-faced guys?
It depends on what you consider being creeped and hit on. I'm a bit sensitive to this because I'm well aware that NONE of these guys would have ANY interest in me WHATSOEVER if they met me in person, so even comments like "you have such a lovely voice" piss me off royally.

But I'd say about 50% of the single males I meet and talk to in my MMO hit on me. (It can be difficult to tell precisely, but it sure seems like it.) Some of them are freakin' annoying about it. I don't care if you "like" me. I'm not looking for an emotional connection. I just want to kill these mobs and get my lootz, thank you.

An acquaintance of mine has been working for a considerable time on writing books on romantic advice for men, and one of the things he did was go on chat rooms posing as women just to see the differences in the way men react to women. One of the things he found was that it's just AMAZING how willfully some guys will manufacture a "relationship" out of nothing and say things like "I've never met anyone like you" to people they've known for half an hour in an online chatroom. Although I suspect lonely women do this too, come to think of it.

hahahahahahaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa Omg that is pure class. Ok screw it, I thought I was the internet don juan but these guys take it to the next level.

Is that a girl?
Are you fat? Cos most girls who play call of duty are really really fat.
She has a vagina! Be respectful guys!

On 1 side, I'm genuinely wondering why these guys need to pick up online with such charm, on the other I feel some shame at my gender. FFs guys, have some pride!

Oh? Why do you say that? /Genuinely curious.

There is someone out there for everyone after all. (Except for most guys on the internet, 'cause they're creepers.)

I've found myself quite addicted to TF2 as of late, and subsiquently I've often found myself as the only female on whatever server I reside. This results in a lot of teasing and trolling, both of which I expect going in.
You haven't been much on the Escapist TF2 UK server then. I've been hit on a lot in my online life in the past (when I used to play a small MMORPG called "The Realm"), but the guys on the Escapist TF2 server are a really cool bunch, and I've not a single complaint about them: no teasing, no trolling. At least the regulars, the true Escapists. You'll always get the once-in-a-blue-moon occurrence of the total dweeb who'll go bonkers because he hears a girl, but that's so rare, it's barely worth mentioning.

Chicks don't play video games, what are you talking about?
Yeah, who's dumb enough to put their PC/console in the kitchen?

I kid, I kid, and I kid because I love...
Well, it usually keeps them quiet. Unless you give them some distraction they start menstruating and sharing feelings all over the place.

Who would be dumb enough to actually do that? I understand there are immature people in the world but for fucks sake I can't imagine someone who's older than 15 actually doing so. Is the entire world made of idiots?
Sadly, that seems to be the case.
