With the recent ban of Vault101 I was thinking about all of the good posters that have been banned over time and I realized that I am unable to remember all of the ones that I should. This made me think that there should really be a list of notable posters that have been banned. The purpose of the thread then is to post all of the Ex-Escapists that you consider to have been notable for one reason or another.

Feel free to reminisce about the Banned Ones if you wish, the more to remember them by in a single thread the better.

Of your list, I only recognize 3 of them, one I didn't have much interaction with and the other two I'm not sad with their banning.
Not to name names, but one was terrible at spelling and grammar and the other had an odd obsession with animals.

Also, not on your list, but there's someone else who was the very epitome of a strawman, a European that could never understand the American way of life, while he attempted to turn nearly every thread into an argument for banning of all firearms in the US.

I remember only 2 of em, Vault and Mortai. They were some pretty cool peeps, Mortai was rather serious but the only thing I really noticed about Vault was their poor spelling and grammar, funny chap. The others I never really encountered.

Wonder if Daystar would ever get the ban, now that would be a national tragedy.

I remember Boudica. She was involved in some pretty heated debates, but she seemed pretty nice overall. I kind of liked her. Vault usually made me smile, whether that was because of her posts or because of her spelling, I know not. Maybe a bit of both. Karutomaru was fucking amazing. I loved that guy. Always got the forums red raw with his Capcom antics and his posts (and the ensuing chaos they always inspired) were a joy to read. I remember reading a lot of posts from Danyal. I also remember how half the forum would ignorantly accuse him of indulging in bestiality simply because he defended it. He pissed off a lot of people from what I remember, though I can't imagine why. He always seemed civil and nice enough.

That's about all there I care to reminisce about. I do remember Mortai Gravesend, very well, and I certainly shed no tear over his forum-passing. I recognise the name Matthew94 as well, though I didn't know him.

EDIT Just learned that she was banned because of many warnings, that makes more sense. Still sad to see such funny person go, but my sympathies are far less engaged now.

Not surprising. Whenever you see a long term or high post count member get banned, it's usually for an accumulation of small infractions, until one just tips things over.

I'm just off a two week suspension for calling a man a twerp while parodying a snooty theater goer. And since none of the mods bothered to actually respond to the three times I tried to dispute the suspension, I'll say it right here: I was joking, and the person in question responded to me without incident. Why the hell did you not at least give me a response to my challenging the suspension?

So that's why I've been seeing all those vault101 graveyard avatars. It seems kinda dumb how people who post more often are more likely to get banned simply due to accumulated minor infractions. Instead of 6 months it should be after a certain number of warning free posts that you get a warning removed. Vault101 wasn't a bad poster, she certainly doesn't deserve to be ranked alongside some of those people. Remember Zeel? I still wonder if his entire time on the Escapist was just one enourmous... uh... you know.

It's easy to slip up from time to time is what I'm getting at. If I accidentally get another warning I'm going to have to go on hiatus for a while, and that'll suck.

It seems kinda weird how the system works...
Normally a business would embrace long time members giving them benefits and such but on the escapist, the longer you stay the higher the chance you'll get perma-banned...

The small infractions are really quite brutal.

I never knew her, but apparently Zeithri helped us transgendered peeps around here by founding both of our primary usergroups. I would've liked to have met her at some point. She's banned now, not sure if by choice or not.

Also, I kinda miss some of those people, and kinda want to forget some others from that list. Mortai, Matthew, and Vault are some of the ones I remember a bit more fondly. Hell, I already miss Vault's substandard grammar a bit: it may have been barely readable, but when you could read it you could tell that she had more brains than she let on. I won't say I agree or disagree with the ban, but I will say I wish she was still here.

He pissed off a lot of people from what I remember, though I can't imagine why.

Mostly it was his debating tactics. He had a tendency to open a thread with something relatively benign like "Do people have the right to be happy?", and after a page or so of general agreement, come back with something completely off the wall like "Well, bestiality makes people happy so if you oppose it you're a hypocrite" or something. He did that so often that many people started calling him on it as soon as he posted any thread with an ambiguously worded question or obvious answer. And, yeah, he did seem a bit obsessed with bestiality in general.

Religion and Politics tends to have a rather high turnover rate. Even if people don't do things to get them banned outright, arguments do tend to get heated and we've lost more than a few to attrition as the minor dings and scrapes of battle after battle eventually add up. Just the way of things, I suppose.

This has been done to death.

The redemption process is fair. And, if you haven't figured out how to post and not violate the Code of Conduct after getting 4 warnings, probation, a 3-day suspension and then a 2-week suspension, then perhaps this isn't the forum for you to be posting in.

In the end, it's really simple. Before you post a comment, proofread it. If you think there's a possibility it might violate the CoC, delete it and either try again or simply move on.
