I would recommend one of the high end Asus laptops, my flatmate has http://www.pbtech.co.nz/index.php?z=p&p=NBKASU59753&name=ASUS-ROG-G75VW-SSD-Version-Best-Gaming-Notebook-Iv one of those, and it's a great bit of kit.

Very cool on your lap even while running games on ultra.

Main draw back is the fact it only has 4 USB slots but.. eh it's not a massive deal

Not sure if many think of it as a gaming laptop, but my Dell XPS 17 works pretty damn well with most modern games. I'm getting great framerate on Bl2, but then again I am running it on medium settings.

Damn shame.
£1k for a m11x with a nvidia 330gtx u see why alienware suck? lol
Lolz, I got mine for 600$ (Like 400 pounds)
Alienware is like steam. Don't by a game until it's on sale, and mine had a better GPU than that.

tbh in todays market of games and crysis 3 out next year anything below a 670 is a waste really and alienware is a waste of money on sale or not because its still a load of money for something that will be outdated in a year or 2

Crysis 3?
I'm as big of a Crysis fanboy as they come, but seriously, the second game was seriously not up to par with the first. It was a call of duty-ification of Crysis. The online was terrible (Granted, Crysis' online wasn't suberp, but it was still fun, and it was unique.) Now crysis is just Call of Duty with invisable mode, They even took away the enviornment and just replaced it with meaningless grey everywhere.
Also: You complain about the price of things, yet you seem to be only willing to use the best of graphics processors. If you are looking for something reasonably priced, then you are going to have to compromise. I don't have the money to afford all of the enthusiast cards, and I am perfectly contempt with playing games on medium settings. Plus, half of the games I play are from like 2005, so I really don't need to waste an extra 200$ for a card whose power is likely going to go to waste half the time. Have you ever even seen a game where the requirements are 670+? because I haven't. Yeah, it's nice to get the game on medium for me, and that's all I really need/strive for. I'm not some greedy graphics monger, a game doesn't need to be flashy and Leonardo Da Vinci pretty for it to impress me, it only needs to be fun.

im not going to argue with someone who posts silly videos to prove a point when crysis is the benchmark for gpu's and bf3

Yeah? and graphics aren't everything. Good graphics=/= Good game. This is what's wrong with the video game industry. People are so obsessed over how the game looks, rather than what the game presents, what entertainment value it gives us. They shouldn't just be movies with flashy Michael Bay special effects, they should be interactive experiances that tell stories we remember, that give us an experiance outside of our own world. To me, gameplay should be improved before graphics. I don't turn on a game and say "Let's look at the realistic stuff on my computer screen!" and that's the last I have to say on the subject.

Given that I could build two or three decent gaming desktops for the price of a high-end gaming laptop - or 80 to 120 Model A Raspberry Pis [www.raspberrypi.org], I think you'd be a fool to buy one, especially given their tendency to overheat, the terrible life of their batteries and their rapid obsolescence with little chance to upgrade. Not to mention that the likes of an NVIDIA GeForce GT 680M is not equivalent to a desktop GT 680; in fact, it's less powerful than a 660Ti.
obv the 680m isnt as powerfull as a desktop version. out of curiosity if i were to take ure advice and actually built a desktop how cud i get it so it works like a laptop ie having keyboard and display in a neat format so it can go on ure lap, basicly cuz i use the laptop down in the living room i was thinking put the desktop down by the chair n such
You can use a desktop case, if it's large enough, as a table for the monitor, and extend the mouse and keyboard out towards the seating arrangement. You can also use a television and use the computer like a games console. I've used both of these arrangements when necessary, although as I can fit seven computers into my bedroom and use most of them at once, perhaps I'm a bit biased about the whole space requirements for a desktop computer.
so u can benchmark hardware on story now? wow thats some A* class bs youve missed the entire point of the thread
