If you were surprised by The Dark Knight being good you must be easily surprised.

"Whoa! The sun came up this morning!"

I have too say The Dark Knight. The best Batman movie.
Fixed.

In seriousness though, the Dark Knight. Normally when a film gets hyped that just raises the chances of me thinking it sucked, but here... damn. Awesome film.

I was very surprised by Doomsday...the apocalyptic story that was successfully able to combine everything from Medieval duels to car chases AND HAVE EVERYTHING MAKE SENSE. This movie is very underrated-

I am assuming you mean the original Tim Burton one with the Joker, the rest blew royal chunks. But the Dark Knight surprised me as well. It was a franchise sequel, and the first one, while pretty good, was still in the same vein as any of the good super hero movies.

I was expecting Dark Knight to be the same. What I got was one of the most thoughtful and engaging films I have seen in theatres for months.

Kung Fu Panda - Looked like a pile of rubbish on the ads, I was dragged to it by friends and didn't stop laughing through most of it. The fight scenes were brilliantly animated I thought.

Rocky Balboa - I never liked any of them after the first one, expected the new one to be awful. But I actually enjoyed it quite a bit.

Rambo - Once again, Sly somehow managed to pull an old franchise out of the clogged, feces filled public toilet it was in, scrub it down and produce something pretty good.

Love Actually - Before I saw this I was of the mindset that all romantic comedies sucked. Because none of them got the comedy part quite right. It was all romance. But this movie was absolutely hilarious, and changed my mind on the entire genre.

Batman Begins - I was completely against it until I was forced to watch it with my little brother. Awesome movie though. Christian Bale kicks ass as Batman.

I'm quite shocked that people were actually surprised by The Dark Knight. Ever since I heard it was being made I wanted to watch it. And when I saw the first clips of Ledger as the Joker I was dying for it. Seen it three times in the theater so far. I'm obsessive like that.

Agree with the underrated bit, but wasn't surprised at all. Everything panned out exactly as the trailer promised.
That's very true. The trailer promised a gory, violence-filled explosion-fest.

And it totally was. Seriously, if you can think of a way to die horribly, it's in Doomsday.

Ugh, I hated that movie. I did read the book first, but still, I think I would've hated it anyway.

The last movie that pleasantly surprised me was Fracture. I watched the dvd at a friend's house awhile ago, not expecting much, but it was quite good. Anthony Hopkins plays a rich engineering mogul who murders his wife after he finds out she's been cheating on him. There are lots of plot twists during the ensuing trial.

Incredible Hulk suprised the crap outta me, but in retrospect it really shouldn't have

I liked Stardust, but then i read the book first, and I expected it to be much crappier

Also putting in my vote for Kung-Fu Panda and The Dark Knight. I thought that it was going to be a silly kids movie, but it was really beautifully done, and funny in the right places, and just really nicely done.

TDK blindsided me with how powerfully awesome it was. It just kept escalating and getting more and more dangerous.

IronMan was probably the first one that threw me for a loop. I certainly wasn't expecting it to clip along so nicely, for the dialogue to be smart and witty, or for Robert Downey Jr. to kick as much ass as he did.

Superbad. My brother brought the DVD home with him. He said it was very funny and I did not believe him at first. I assumed it would be some rubbish teen movie. Needless to say I thought the character McLovin' was awesome and possibly had the best night ever! The film certainly surprised me.

I kind of meant old films but whatever. Hancock genuinely surprised me because it was much more thoughtful than I would have expected.
