Dragon Age Origins I got because it was only $20 or so, and I had been looking for another hard RPG game. From gameplay videos online, I was a bit skeptical as to whether it would be good, but I asked a friend who had it and he said it was great so I got it. Best decision I made since getting ME1+2 and Spore.
Minecraft I got, like many others, out of curiosity. Most of my friends had got it and were enjoying it, so I gave it a go. My first night I knew somewhat what to do, thanks to listening to my friends talk about it all day, and dug myself a small cave (around 2 blocks into the mountain, and a 2x2 room at the end) and placed a single torch in it whilst placing a door at the front. Did I mention I dug this cave with an Axe not a Pickaxe? Yeah, I was stupid... Still a great game though, my world just keeps getting bigger and bigger, and I'm not exploring anywhere.
WorldShift I got out of curiosity. The landscape looked more fantastical than any other RTS I had played, and I wanted some more imaginative RTS terrain for once. I was also interested in the 'find artifacts to gain new units' game mechanic. Unfortunately, I was somewhat disappointed by these. They had (As should have been obvious) taken screenshots of what is probably the best part of the terrain IMO, and the artifacts you collected were used on your profile to change your available units before each match, whilst I had hoped you would have to find them during the match and use them to unlock more powerful units in that match only (Much like Dawn of War's control points, only being items on an unexplored map where you had no idea where they would be, and had to be taken back to a base and kept in a building or something for it to take effect [like artifacts in AOE]). It was by no means a bad game (Except for the number of times the first mission bugged and would not let me complete it...), it just wasn't what I was hoping for.
