The invention of lying, when the main character talks to his mother about death. Just... To see Ricky Gervais talk like that really got me, y'know?

The film version of the musical RENT.

Angel's funeral. That song gets me every time...

I'm glad you amended that thing about crying, otherwise I'd of had to pass. But close enough, the last one for me was Dear John. I don't know, the whole thing about love and death and the use of foreshadowing just got to me. Then again, I did see it in the cinema and films are always more overwhelming in the cinema, love stories being no exception to that rule.

The Boy in The Striped Pajamas. It didn't really make me cry, but that is seriously one of the most depressing movies I have ever seen.

Toy Story 3.

I cried twice. Weeped, even.
Pixar have turned tear-jerking into an art form.
Agreed, especially since Andy went to college at the same time I did, I went and dug up my old toys after I saw that movie, put "Speedy" the beanie baby turtle on my desk, used to take the thing with me everywhere

Mary and Max, I think last time I posted on one of these threads, only one person seemed to know the movie, which I think is a shame, as it is a wonderful, but sad movie. I highly recommend it.

Letters From Iwo Jima always gets me misty eyed, truly a remarkable feat of filmcraft.
The scene where the battle is all but lost and they get that message from Japan of the schoolchildren singing is heartwrenching, especially with its juxtaposing happy music and incredibly sad scene. Also, near the end where Kuribayashi asks if they are still on Japanese soil. I feel no special affinity with Japan but for some reason that whole film is so powerful.

An episode of

David Tennant's "Dr. Who" almost made me cry.

I don't cry very easily, but some of those episodes just get to me.

The Tenth Doctor: I don't want to go...

What makes this especially sad is that David Tennant became an actor specifically to play the Doctor. When he says, "I don't want to go," that's not just the Doctor speaking.

I honestly don't get crying at movie. This isn't like "You're a loser for crying at movies" or anything, I seriously don't get how it is possible at all, let alone this widespread. Can someone enlighten me? I don't get how someone could form such an attachment to a film.

Music on the other hand.
Someone could say the same about music. I'm grateful that I can experience both ends of the emotional spectrum. I guess part of it is due to being immersed with the film and being attached to the characters and sometimes setting. You really want them to get the happy ending because you feel that they deserve it.

If I hadn't had some solid disciprine I would've weeped all throughout Up! Damn you Pixar and your brilliance.

But you know, my parents were watching. Can't break out in manly tears with them around, right?
