Last Weeks Red vs Blue was the funniest I have seen from the show in a long time.

I am starting to like this season, It almost feels like the olden days of the first 5 seasons.

And the most of the jokes here in this episode actually made me laugh out loud so hard, I had not laughed this much since Season 5, No scratch that, Season 3.

I've been meaning to watch this season actually. But mainly because my fiancee's best friend is doing voice work for it this season.

Good to hear it's actually funny again too.

I wouldn't count on the whole comedical mishap to last long given to what happened at the end of the episode (too good to be true that Church will be erase pernamently from the last season well before the filler season).

I gave up on Red vs. Blue in season 10, ep. 10 (yeah, I remember the exact point). Can't stand Freelancer. It isn't so much that it's a change in tone, it's that it's pretty wretched on its own terms as well.

Is it worth slogging through Freelancer for the Chorus Trilogy and the last two seasons?

That was a Trilogy?

Also I haven't seen the seasons after the Freelancer finale season with the Director and Carolina's final meeting.

But this season seems easy to get into regardless.

Whatever, just wash your hands.
Really? Its funny? I thought they went all dramatic and stopped doing the comedy.

I mean the show has been funny every season, IMO. It's not like a show can be ONLY funny or ONLY dramatic. The Blood Gulch crew always throw around jokes. It's still my favorite show on the internet.

That's true. It's why season 6 is my favorite, because I feel it does the best job of balancing out drama with humour.

Seasons 9 and 10 just tanked for me however. The problems began in seasons 7 and 8, but I could live with them. With Freelancer however, for me, the humour was gone entirely, replaced with action and 'drama.' That would be fine, if I could be invested in either. When your action scenes consist of over the top stunts that are bereft of any tension for the protagonists, I don't feel invested, I feel bored. It's also tonally jarring in a series that's had action and "badasses" (e.g. Tex), but even Tex was the best soldier around by being set against an incredibly low bar, the joke being that she still gets knocked out easily by the alien, and the Reds still capture her in the first section. In Freelancer, she and every other Freelancer (well, least the female ones) become invincible.

That's a curious conclusion to come to about a season that shows what colossal failures all of the female Freelancer's efforts were.

Carolina lost everything she had. Tex couldn't save Church. South Dakota got humiliated repeatedly to the point where she became bitter enough to kill her own brother. CT did kind of succeed in destabilizing Project Freelancer, but she was dead by the time it happened and her boyfriend dies later while accomplishing basically nothing. Hell, even the pilot got reassigned to a boring desk job after the whole mess.

Really, the only people to come out of Season 10 relatively unscathed were Wyoming, North Dakota, Florida, the Meta, the Director, and the Counselor. I mean they all died later but not while Freelancer was falling apart.

And the flashbacks had humor in the form of Washington. I liked how he went from plucky, ineffective comic relief to jaded, half-psycho badass. Again, this is all just my opinion, but I 'll never get the shitting all over the drama parts of RvB. Yeah, it was a tonal shift from the first five seasons, but personally I enjoy those stories. RvB hasn't disappointed me yet.
