Having played the demo I feel the need to point out that "off mode" is not mandatory! I greatly dislike off mode, but provided I don't have to use it again, the combat in the game is great.

Seeing as that is the only real point you've made here (besides the cockpit view complaint, which I can respect) I don't feel the need to go into any more detail.

I feel the entire argument is a little pointless. There's a demo, and it's FREE, so I don't see why anyone would take anyone else's opinion into consideration. Download it and try it for your damn self, and make your own opinion... the TC's opinion matters little.

As for my opinion... AM Off has its uses, but isn't for everything. It would have worked if there was a way to toggle all targets instead of just toggling between the two targets closest to your reticle. It would've worked if there was any other camera angle other than locked onto your current target; a first person perspective of AM Off would've beeng great. Either of these options would've fixed it, but the camera being fixed on your target AND only being able to cycle the targets in your reticle kills its use for anything other than dogfighting. Now switch controls to Expert and AM Off is a killer mode for dogfighting, but there's little use for it other than that.

I've bought HAWX already, and I'm ready to give it a shot for the long term. I'll give my full opinion on if it's easy to learn or not later on.

Um, you can play the game using a cockpit view. I did it, and it wasn't that bad. Clicking on the right control stick changes the viewpoint if I remember correctly.

I've also Played the demo, the assistance off option, while I agree does look awesome, does leave the issue of not being able to see a Frakking thing. also the voice acting was rather poor, at least in the 10 minutes of wasted time I spent playing the demo

Edit- Also it would be nice if they had taken the time to actually give the game accurate flight simulation, instead you are stuck flying through air that feels like it's really glue that holds your aircraft on exactly the trajectory that you put it on and doesn't allow for, you know realistic things, like I don't know, gravity, wind resistance, airflow over the wings creating lift, you don't lose altitude when flying upside down on a level flightpath. WTF

I picked up the game early yesterday thanks to the dumbasses at Gamestop, and it's pretty fun overall. I'm probably halfway through the plot, and apart from the escort mission fatigue I'm having a pretty good time with it.

Anyway, that plot's retarded, as always in TC games. At one point you're(and this is serious) protecting the US president with like two of your wingmen to help you. This is, of course, a few minutes after you held out in D.C. for a amazingly long time waiting for a load of planes to come. I guess they all ran out of fuel upon getting there.

Versus kicks some major ass: think a more serious Crimson Skies game, with a MUCH smaller number of people and a lot more stalling. Pulling off some major manuevers in OFF mode is not only fun, but completely freaking nessecary. I can't imagine fighting without it: pressing the air-brake and pulling up loses its appeal/effectiveness eventually.

Overall, good multiplayer, shitty plot/campaign. Suprise suprise.

i found that Both ON and OFF have there uses, if you need to get a tank in the middle of buildings, ON mode will really help you there, but if you need to Clear alot of Air units ive Found OFF mode lets you turn rather Quickly and sort them out right quick, if The games not for you, thats fine its not for you, just dont play it

I played demo, was boring and the off assisstance I kept trying to slow down then turn, but when I stalled... Buh bye.

But... I did enjoy doing flips and blowing up other aircraft with my l33t flying skills when I was completely surrounded by missiles owning me.
