Oliver breathed a little sigh of relief. It was good to know that these people seemed genuine. In truth, he would always be distrusting of people to some extent. Betrayal had popped up a few too many times for him to remain entirely trusting of his peers. But he decided to give this situation the benefit of the doubt. For now, he needed rest. He laid down in his bed, and drifted off to sleep. For a moment, he almost believed that they would be able to keep Amaranth locked away for good.

A doctor walked in to see if they were all okay or if they needed anything, noticing that they all slept, he just silently closed the door, making sure not to wake them up.

[HEADING=2]A Month Later[/HEADING]

The ceremony was terrifically loud, everyone who survived the Omnisure massacre and all the surrounding islands were here to see the heroes. Millions of people cheered out everyone's names, ranging from May, to Jason, to Oliver, to even Rachel. Everyone put their sadness away from lost family members for the moment, and cheered on everyone.

Sergeant Miles walked to the microphone. "Hello Everyone, yet another round of applause for these fine people" a deafening roar followed. "Okay, settle down."

Four people in their early twneties walked in front of the group, and smiled at them, holding in their hands a medal made out of pure gold, with a few diamonds covering it. Each person got their own important person. Oliver got Sergeant Miles, and he placed the medal around his neck. Everyone got a likewise treatment from well known people, all with genuine smile son their faces.

After they each received a medal, the crows went quieter, until one person screamed out at the top of his lungs, "SPEECH!", then the crowd cheered loudly in agreement to the idea.

Jason stood staring out at a sea of people, each one thinking that he was a hero that had saved the city. Jason however didn't feel like a hero, he had been the villain who had started all of this in the first place. The uneasy feeling only showed however when the crowd began shouting out for a speech.

"I don't think I'll be able to give a speech Rachel... " Jason said, turning to her while the crowd was cheering for speeches.

Only recently, Jason had gone back to the scene were he and and Lucifer had fought Amaranth. There was nothing left of Lucifer, the only thing that remained was his helmet, which was now stuffed in one of Jason's suitcases he had packed to leave the city with Rachel.

Rachel was surprised that she had been given a medal, and even more surprised that the crowd wanted a speech. She stepped up to the podium and cleared her throat.

"Th... thank you, everyone. It is an honor to be so well liked by all of you... but I am not a hero. In fact, I don't know what I am yet. But, I do know a true hero. His name was Alfred Black, my father. He gave his life for all of us, and I am sorry to say that he can not be here right now. Many of you probably know him as Galaxy, the hero that saved millions from just as many threats. He is the one who I wish was up here today, not me. He deserves your praise, not me. If only he was still here, who knows what he would say. Perhaps he would say someone else deserved praise. Perhaps he would say no one does. I don't know. I just know that he truly does deserve all the raise anyone can get. He has saved the world, and deserves this medal far more than me. I still thank all of you for this medal, as he would, but I more believe that this should go to him, not me. Thank you all, and, please, keep the name Alfred Black with you all." She stepped away from the podium with a thunderous applause.

Jason supposed he was the next person to speak since nobody else seemed ready at the moment. He stepped up to the podium and cleared his throat, knowing that everybody's eyes were on him.

"I know your all expecting a grand speech from your heroes... but to tell the truth I'm no hero. These are your heroes, they were there for you in your time of need when others thought that all hope was lost." Jason said, turning to point at the others behind him on the podium, "I won't lie... I was lost for a long time until Oliver managed to bring me back to my senses. He is the real hero here, not me, Oliver was the one who managed to bring Amaranth down. Thank you all for the medal, but I don't feel as if I truly deserve it. So many lives were lost in the resulting battle, and so many more are missing still. Thank you all for the medal." Jason said, thinking of Lucifer and Emily when he said that. Lucifer was dead, and Emily was missing, having disappeared shortly after the Helicopter was up in the air and away from danger.

Jason then backed away from the podium and walked back over to Rachel. His stomach still ached and he was having difficulty speaking with Darkfire, who had recently become known as Darkfire. During Jason's battle with Amaranth, Darkfire and Jason had fused to form a being with Jason's body and Darkfire's knowledge and power. That form was known as Nova, and Jason's other powerful attacks such as Dark Supernova could only be used when they are fused.

"I didn't do too bad did I?" Jason asked Rachel when he got over to her.

Oliver wished to stay back, away from the podium. However, May shoved him up to his position, where he coughed a bit before beginning.

"I'm sorry, I'm not very good at this. Uh, if I am going to begin anywhere, I suppose it must be with a confession: people here claim that I am a hero, but this is not true. The real heroes are no longer with us. One of my oldest friends died during that battle. Many of you knew him as Dan Rook, CEO and philanthropist. Many of you knew him instead as Renegade, the retired superhero who recently returned to his career, only to have it cut short. There were many unseen threats over the course of that battle, and I don't have time to talk about them here. His sacrifice guaranteed our victory. Therefore, I have a request to make. For years many have referred to any grouping involving myself as 'Paragon'N'Pals'. In memory of my mentor, that name shall be erased. We are now officially 'Renegades.'"

"But, I must wrap up. Many of you lost people dear to you in the destruction, just as we did, and though we can never fill that void, I wish to help in whatever way I can. Therefore, as heir to the fortune of Dan Rook, I will be diverting funds to begin the building of a new city, to replace the one lost, and a memorial at its center to recognize all those who lost their lives in the fighting. That is all."

He made a few awkward steps down the stairs, and walked off-stage where he was embraced by his wife. "I hate giving those speeches." He muttered.

"Really?" May asked, unconvinced. "Then why did you even bother with such a long speech?"

Oliver blushed a little and shrugged. The pair looked out to see a section of the audience waving wildly at him. Among them were Buck, along with their son Noah, as well as Gaz and his recently adopted daughter Jayne and a few of the leading members of the Rat Pack and the superhumans they had recruited during the fighting. Oliver smiled and put his remaining arm around May and said "It's not a happy ending, but I think Dan would be proud."

"I know he would." She replied.

Rachel kissed Jason on the cheek. "You were great, sweety." She said, grabbing Jason's hand. "Funny, though, that we both thought someone else was better suited for the award." She commented. She, for some reason, remember when she was trying to kill Jason. The image of him bleeding because of her blade made her slightly uneasy, but she soon forgot it. She just watched the speeches and waited for the ceremonies to end, wanting to leave the country as soon as she could and find a new home, a home that was not yet stained with blood she had spilled.

"So... have you decided were you want to live once we wrap up everything here?" Jason asked, giving Rachel a hug before turning to stand beside her. He wrapped his arm around Rachel, knowing that she was finally safe from the damage he had caused everywhere else in the city.

Rachel moved closer in to Jason's arms. "No, not really. I think we should more worry about that when the time comes." She said, leaning her head on Jason's shoulder. Almost done, almost time to go. I'm not really sure where to go. Every time I try to leave, I end up in more trouble. Maybe we can head to Europe, settle there. Maybe back to America. Or, maybe, just stay here.

The applause still went on, even though all the speeches were finished. Some Cheered loudly, a few cried, a few were confused over how all of those people were so damned shy. Miles walked up to the podium again, "That seems very fair Paragon. We will re build, make everything as it was again."

The applause went as loud as it has ever been, almost blowing out a few ear drums. Seeing as the hereos begun to leave, the crowd started to disperse, the cheering slowly dying away.

You should start thinking of your character. The time skip is going to be along one this time, about 7 years. So lots of things to add into your new Biography. Or create new characters... If possible, no new characters over the age of 40... You will see why...

P.S. How old is Oliver now? Like 70?

<spoiler=OOC>Um... Well saying where will give away some plot details... But for a setting? Something like the first one... Not a tropical place like this island, just a regular city. Maybe slighlty more diverse than just a city but yeah, a city.. Possibly a large suburb...
