Oliver nodded to Umbra and to Alex. His helmet drew back over his head as his visor go to work attempting to find any information on Minus' movements.

Is it possible to intercept Minus and co., or at least get to the aftermath of the battle? Like, any reports of a disturbance?

<spoiler=OOC>You wouldn't be able to intercept it... You would be able to hear of it, but we will be gone before you guys have a chance to get back there.

One of the soldiers looked at Jean feasting upon one of his friends. "Oh God!" he yelled out as he raised his gun, aiming to fire at him. Before he got a single shot off, the gang member who was corrupted fired a few shots into his chest, killing the gun man. The corrupted one had his eyes glazed over, and he wore a massive slouch.

Dren fired off many bolts of black fire and burned many of the soldiers. "You kill them I will open this door" Dren yelled over to Jean as he ran up to the locked door and began cutting through it with his sword.

Umbra nodded subtly at Magus before following Paragon and Alex. Huh, you'd think Alex would have a handle by now...

Magus did his best to keep Charmer amused with the magic tricks he usually reserved for his scams. At the end of his little show, he took out a paper, folded it into a pyramid, gently wrapped his hands around it, brought it to his face and breathed onto it. Then he handed it to Charmer, when she saw it again, it had turned into a baby dove.

"Here," he said, "You can keep it if you want."

The lock were all smashed by the third hit. The door swung open and a worried looking man jumped backwards as yet another man with a rocket launcher took aim and fired directly at Dren, trying to take him by surprise.

 

[Moderationintime]

The missile hit behind Dren sending him flying at the worried man. Dren moaned as he slowly got up. The shrapnel had made it past some of his armour. Dren quickly fired a bolt of fire at the man who had fired at him and kicked the man he had landed on. "Up now, show me the grenade" He ordered as he picked up his sword and pressed it against the man's neck.

The man began to weep as he pointed to a small safe in the corner. The man softly began to pray under his breath.

 

[Moderationintime]

"Open it" Dren ordered as he pointed to the safe. Dren gave a soft grunt as he yanked out a piece of metal embedded in his left shoulder.

The man continues praying, and dropped near the safe. He spun it a few times, then it opened. As it opened, he collapsed on the floor, from fear or something else, he didn't know. He still wept and prayed as the safe opened and had a small grenade.

It looked normal, except for a small red band around the middle of it.

Dren looked at the man and laughed. "You should have joined us while you had the chance" Dren said with a grin as he lit his hand ablaze and branded his insignia onto the man's cheek, a crow carrying a dagger. Dren then crushed the man's windpipe and let him fall to the ground. He took the grenade and set fires around the warehouse. Dren walked out to Minus. "Here it is" He said.

Ana looked at Magus... She had never felt like such an... equal... Perhaps that was the word, but maybe not...

She wasn't sure how to react... He was praising her and she assumed trying to reassure her, but why?

He even did a few magic tricks. Ana couldn't deny she found them beautiful and amazing, but why was he keeping her amused? Surely he could be doing something better with his time...

One trick though that made her absolutely confused beyond all reckoning... He made a baby dove out of a piece of paper. Ana stared as it nestled itself into her hands and ruffled its feathers.

She looked up at Magus with awe...

"Why...why are you being so kind to me? Why are you doing these things for me?" No one else had tried to encourage or reasure her this way... Perhaps he had seen just how vulnerable she was... Ana hoped not, no one knew the extent of her fear and naivety...No one had ever taken notice, but still...

Ana kept searching through the security system to find any sign of surveillance footage.

"My orb was purple..." She muttered quietly. "Purple's my favourite colour, it's the colour of my aura too..." The little dove Magus had given her cooed softly as she took off one of her gloves, the one that covered her scar and placed it like a nest in her lap.

Magus looked at Charmer for a little while before answering. "You remind me of someone I used to know. You remind me of my favorite niece... before... before she died in an accident. You look like her so much... you could be her twin. And... I can tell from some of your actions and body language that you have suffered through a lot to get here as you are now. I guess... I wanted you to know that you aren't alone in that. I've been on the run from my former mentor for most of my adult life." Magus found himself staring at his feet to hide his world-weary expression from Charmer, he figured it was the last thing she needed to see right now.

"I know how you feel." She said simply, as if she were speaking by herself.

"I've been on the run for years...Every one I've previously worked with have used me for my powers... They all hurt me in the end..." she smiled bitterly down at her small scar. "But the things we get through make us stronger I suppose." She shrugged.

"I'm sorry by the way...about your niece... It must be hard to lose family..." she paused her search and watched the little dove nestle in her lap.

Magus petted the tiny dove on Charmer's lap. Then he looked at her.

"This face I'm wearing now is a lie," he told her before he waved a hand in front of his face to drop the disguise, revealing his patch-work gray-black beard, the cataract building in his left eye, and the long, deep scar running diagonally along the left side of his face, "You see this scar? This is where my grandfather cut into my cheek to collect a sample of my blood. He was my mentor... and I had been running from him for a week before he caught up with me. He collected some of my blood and put into a microscope slide for his personal use later. He had me tied up with layers upon layers of tape and plastic wrap. There was only one thing I could do to escape... I had to burn my way out. I didn't quite have the same amount of control over my powers then as I do now, and I nearly melted my own body along with the plastic and tape. I had to replace my hands with machinery. And I've been running ever since. And... thank you... I appreciate your sympathy, I lost my niece a long time ago. But thank you Charmer."

I'm sorry I didn't tell you about that before Umbra. I'm not sure why I didn't. How's the hunting going for you and the others?

"I...I could fix it... Scars aren't my specialty, and I've never had to heal an eye before... But I can try if you like?" Her voice was a concerned one. His face hadn't shocked her like she assumed he thought it would. Instead it made her trust him more.

"My scars are hard to see... I was used as a healer, but they simply drained my energy and used it as if it were some form of steroid... The experiments were...unpleasant, and the Agency members were cruel, they wouldn't have cared if I died... I only escaped because they took me on a mission... Not a very smart move to let the Charmer out of the cell... My real name's not Charmer either...they called me that... The name given to me by the white mages is Analiese, Ana for short..." She sighed.

Minus looked at Dren, then smiled when he saw the grenade. "Perfect." he replied as he waited for Jean to get into tge car.

When he had hoped in, he floored it, driving away as fast as he could.

"Analiese," he repeated, tasting the name, "That is a very beautiful name Ana, it suits you. But here's the question I have for you... Do you think your name fits you? My 'real' name is Geoff Morgan. My grandfather was Dexter. When I worked out how to really control my abilities, I went by the name 'Magus Ex Machina'... the mage in the machine. It seemed fitting. My mentor kept trying to force me onto his path... the path of a killer. But I refused, and he's been hunting me ever since... he tried to force his own identity onto me, but my chosen name 'Magus' helped me. Maybe choosing a name for yourself might help you. Does that make sense?"
