"Huh." Oliver said, in response to Alex's revelation. "If this is something that's been bothering you for a while, I'm sorry it's caused you so much trouble, but it's really not that big a deal, Alex. In this line of work you tend to find the stranger parts of society. If you were expecting some kind of disgust from me don't worry, it's not a big deal." He paused for a moment, deciding how to proceed. "How often do I kill people?" He paced a bit pondering it. "Not as often as you might think. I don't like to jump to extremes, but sometimes it's a necessary evil. Roxanne had completely lost it, she was a danger to herself and her family, and she'd already killed dozens of people in cold blood. Even then, I wouldn't have done what I did if I wasn't sure I could prevent it from ever happening once this is all over."
"You don't have to be a killer to be a hero, Alex, but sometimes you have to make decisions that you and no one else are going to be happy about. Sometimes they turn out to be for the best, and other times you'll wish you'd never gone through with it, but the important thing is that you can keep going without dwelling on it; without letting it consume you. Something was always off about Roxanne, Alex, and without a good influence she couldn't take the stress; but you're a good kid, Alex, I'm sure you'll do fine."
