I have learnt about myself from...

From Fallout 3/New Vegas: I seek approval from everyone, I really need 316 bent tin cans, I can't bring myself to shoot families of coyotes.

From GTA 1-IV: I should never be allowed behind the wheel of a car.

From COD 4: "Friendly fire... Isn't".

From Guitar Hero 3 (I think): If I have a musical bone in my body its certainly not in any of my fingers.

From Die Hard 2 (Die Hard Trilogy): Explosive shotgun shells are the best thing ever.

From Left 4 Dead 2 Demo: In the event of a zombie uprising I am fucked and I will probably panic and shoot you in the face by accident.

From Super Mario Brothers: The Princess is in another castle *sighs* I will dogmatically follow her to the ends of the earth (or where ever Mario games are set) in spite of my distain for the nepotism integral to aristocracies.

From Crysis... Koreans think that going invisible makes you a "dark man"

(I SWEAR HE SAID, "look, its a dark man" WHEN HE SAW ME CLOAK)

ehem... I guess crysis taught me that punching koreans as a very strong man is fun.

This may have already been done, so forgive me please if it has, but recently I had an experience in a game that made me realise something about myself... It was during a side quest in Red Dead Redemption: Undead Nightmare (the last place I expected to have a meaningful experience...) so for the sake of those who haven't yet played it ... Spoiler Warning

So during the mission "Birth of the Conversationalist Movement" you are taxed with hunting down and killing the Sasquatch creatures that lurk in the forest. As you kill them off one by one, they put up little fight... in fact all they do is run away from you when they see you. Eventually you find the last one, crying by the river... This is where you learn that they were fleeing because they're intelegent gentle beings that have never caused harm... And you have been needlessly extinguishing their race. This is the last of the Sasquatch and he is a broken, pathetic man bringing for death as he cannot take the loneliness of being the last of his kind...

But I couldn't bring myself to kill this last one... After I had so easily killed them before because I just assumed they were vicious animals... just because someone told me to kill them... I honestly didn't have the strength to pull the trigger one last time...

So I guess It made me realise that shouldn't be so quick to judge... and I also learnt that I am most certainly not a cold blooded killer...

Anyone else have an experience like this? Ever Learn something about yourself from a game?
Hurm.
I had the same reaction in that situation. I just walked away and tried not to look back D':

I would say I'm a nice guy in real life, but I could not, COULD NOT stop loving Benny in Fallout New Vegas. He might have put two 9mm slugs into my frontal lobe, but he only did it to take control of New Vegas from Mr.House, an act that I find most awesome. I wish I could have had him as a follower, or at least talk to him again after I rescued him from Caesar. He had good intentions, but bad ways of getting them done.

I've learned through moral choice games that i do instinctively go for being the more diplomatic "paragon" type person over being evil.
I will still argue i'm chaotic neutral at my core though.

Also through virtual self discovery i've learned i like to hoard wealth, and support people rather than take the charge. I'd rather be the unsung hero who killed off the guy who nearly killed off our great heroic leader whos at the front lines.

Lost Odyssey.

It taught me why death isn't necessarily an entirely bad thing... after a normal length lifetime life loses its luster. I thought I'd be the guy always afraid of death to be honest.
