I was Civil Engineering, specializing in fluid dynamics and hydraulics, so had to use them to model river flows - same stuff different density!FoolKiller said:kiwisushi said:whenever something is only explainable via einstein notations it gets a little bit complicated. Navier Stokes equations of flow are pretty difficult. Can work with them vaguely at 2D level, but 3D is too complicated for me (and almost anyone alive, including computational models) to deal with

For those that have no idea what they are.
Hehe, I'm guessing someone will one up me with M-Theory now!I love them to death... of course I went to school for aerospace engineering

Damnit Max, i was gonna say that. D: Glorious bastard. T_T Though I hate all of them I particularly hate the equations responsible for nuclear physics. I may understand words but I'll never understand numbers with letters. x_XMaxTheReaper said:I'll take it a step further and say I hate math in its entirety.
Actually, I just plain hate numbers.
Any reasons for this? Or just general distaste?MaxTheReaper said:I'll take it a step further and say I hate math in its entirety.

=) Good point =) Maths and I have a non-aggression pact of sorts. I don't bother it and it doesn't bother me. Having said that, I think maths is beautiful, I just don't have time to sit down and understand more of it. I tend to like it applied to whatever chemistry I'm currently working on...The Professor said:Did it a actually take a math professor himself to point out that it's "Mathematical"? You spelled it wrong, I suppose your time in school would've been better spent studying English and not hating on math so much. I really don't mind when people don't like math, but I hope you're brave enough to admit that it's because you don't understand it, and not because it doesn't make sense, because it does.
Fair enough. Seems you're the reverse of me, seeing as I have a memory that last about two months at bestMaxTheReaper said:I don't play well with numbers.ThreeWords said:Any reasons for this? Or just general distaste?
Call me bizarre, but I love maths and numbers. They make sense, follow rules, can't lie or change their minds, and, when used right, they form wonderful patterns and concepts.
/maths obsession
I can barely perform basic maths in my head, and while I can remember pretty much everything I've ever heard of read after it's a certain amount of time old, I can never remember numbers.
So I've just never been a fan.

I hate to tell you, but SOH-CAH-TOA is the very tip of of the ice berg for Trig functions.Avaholic03 said:Pretty much anything having to do with exponential and hyperbolic functions. They're just not intuitive (at least not to me).
At least trig formulas make sense, and they're easy to remember. Didn't any of you learn SOH-CAH-TOA?
