Least favourite game character

Protagonists I didn't like: Vaan, Altair and Liara are up there, not because they're the worst characters, but because they were bad compared to everyone else in the world - compared to the well-written, well-rounded characters I'd come to expect from those games. Plus, all three of them made bad first impressions on me. You only get one first introduction; make it count.

I can see why people would like Liara or Altair, but, unfortunately, my cynicism alarm blares when I sense cliche, and they just triggered that in me straight away. Besides, both of them do that really annoying thing where they try to speak in a stilted, archaic formal tone, and then suddenly switch to using abbreviations, so at times their dialogue feels really unnatural. Don't force the actors to do that if they don't want to; Two Worlds tried it and everyone sounded stupid.

Minor characters who bug me: Mayor MacCready, Roman, the scientist from Assassin's Creed (forgot his name, sorry), Aldaris (SHUT UP! MY PYLONS ARE FINE!), Dana Mercer, Clap-Trap.

Games where I just didn't like anybody: Ninety-Nine Nights, X-Blades (the valley girl treasure hunter = epic fail), CoD3...all I can think of at the moment.

Worst video game character of all time? Yeah, definitely Ayumi. She's like if Lara Croft met the FFX-2 chicks with Penelo & Vaan's fashion sense. Worst. Character. Ever.

Them. Total wankers that wear half a fucking truck for armour. They are the enemy of all that is awesome in the world. Bunch of pussies with no idea how to not get shot.

They are the opposite of cool.

Before you even meet your first damn cliffracer. And then for kicks, there's a token annoying woodelf in every game afterwords. Well, there's the fool who stands outside the temple of Almalexia in Mournhold in the Tribunal expansion who asks you for gold, goes off and buys armour, and then comes back to attack you. Then, in Oblivion, Bethesda decided to up the annoyance factor by having that other fool in Skingrad follow you everywhere. Avoiding him is a minigame in itself.

That said, none of these are actually 'characters', more just NPC extras.

As far as actual characters go, for me it's anything produced by Bioware's Carth Onassi template.

Basically every silent protagonist ever. Very few games actually use it well (Bioshock is the only one I can think of off the top of my head). The whole "allowing the player to project onto the character" is almost always just an excuse to make a bland character who only ever does stuff in battles.

little jacob...holy shit, his voice, "EH YO BRUDDA SLD:KJFSDF:LBRUDDA, BRUDDA! FIFTYTHRITYFOURHT SECOND STREET! I SEE YOU BRUDDA THERE BRUDDA!" holy shit, i have never wanted to run over a minority so much

Crash bandicoot's girlfriend..idk why but it just annoyed the shit out of me she never did anything in the games, while i apparently had to take on the whole freaking island by myself, including boulder after boulder that chased me down the mountainside

navi from oot was annoying as hell too...the owl i personally thought was tight, i loved when it came around and did the whole head spin thing. navi i wanted to freakin punt with my fist into ganon's mouth

one of my least favorite of all time...has to be kreia, i wanted to force choke that ***** from the freaking beginning because of her annoyingness, really old woman, i'll put your force sensitive ass in a nursing home before listening to you or having you in my party, fuck off
