I find his emoness rather annoying, but I don't dislike him that much.

To be fair, I think the fact that James is in a town influenced by his mind to make him suffer makes the emo work out alright. It sort of fits.Moodels said:
Now...Squall from FF8. HE is an emo twat that should die in a Fire (and then a Fira, a Firaga, and then FIAGRA!, the logical conclusion to fire and viagra!) Virtually everything he says is garbage (including when he doesn't speak at all). This may be because the characters surrounding him are crap too, but we won't forgive him for that! His weapon sucks, his job sucks, his reactions to ANYTHING sucks, and I can't think of any reason for why Square thought THIS was a good character!
Jude from Wild Arms 4 for having to yell a phrase every time he jumps and his adults are useless/untrustworthy attitude though most characters in that game were unlikable walking Cliches. I still hate Arnaud more for being a whiny twat but Jude's up there.
Honestly it takes alot to make me hate a protagonist and I can deal with them if the supporting cast is okay.

He's an idiot. Everyone knows that he is an idiot. Yet for some reason, he is always the one that comes up with the group's plans. Retarded plans that almost always result in someone getting kidnapped or killed. I just want to reach into the TV and strangle him for being so fucking stupid. A brick would be more useful than him. At least a brick wouldn't lead you into danger and preach about the power of friendship.
