You can use the Play and charge kit, or you can buy a Wireless Gaming Reciever (but make sure it is Microsoft brand!).
No play and charge. It doesn't connect you to the XBox 360 or the PC. You need a wireless receiver like you have or a wired controller. I use the latter, myself.

Now, a PS3 controller turns into a wired controller when plugged in.

Jeez, I wonder WHY they bash you so very hard about having a seriously inferior, overpriced, inconvenient, technologically obsolete and locked down system.

And just so that you're aware, if you're not already:
Consoles are the cause for all the bad things in the industry. Not for the industry mind you, but in the industry. What we game-playing folk want.

TL;DR: Fuck consoles.
Inconvenient? I find it more inconvenient to have to spend three hours trying to figure out what's gone on with a game I download instead of playing it immediately. I find it more inconvenient when Steam has problems verifying my user ID key. I find it more inconvenient that when I don't have the internet, I can't play any of my Steam games. I also find it more pricey to spend hundreds or thousands to build a gaming PC, when my 360 only cost me $250, and I've had it ever since.

And yet I still play the ones I can get to work on my PC. Because pretty much everyone understand PCs are more powerful, it all depends in the end on who has the money to make their own, which-surprise, surprise-a good many people cannot afford.

Do you enjoy hyperbole?

lolwut? Now your choice of gaming system decides who is casual? That makes no sense. So you're telling me that a guy who sinks 100 hours into Skyrim on the 360 is less of a gamer than one who sinks in 60 hours on a PC?

Please tell me more of your ten point business plan to fix the game industry. I don't know what game industry you're looking at but so far I'm loving it. Games have been better than any other time for me personally. Playing Borderlands 2, Lollipop Chainsaw while I wait for Halo 4 and Dishonoured.

To sum up. Just because you don't like games at the moment doesn't mean they are bad.

Thats odd, I can play my Steam games with no internet connection... Is someone exaggerating?
No, I literally cannot play my games if I can't connect to the Steam/internet. Kinda like in my Mass Effect 2 I discovered when I'm not connected to XBL I can't play a save that had the Normandy Crash Site or Zaeed in it, but can at least still play the game. My offline mode, I swear to God, it switches back on at its own whimsy. But then Steam has never seemed to like me, so big surprise.

This is just something I've been getting alot of for about a year now.

I never noticed PC gaming was at this level until a year or so ago. I new it was there but I thought consoles was where it was at because I only used my PC for RTS games. However the gap between consoles and PC gets bigger as time goes on and more people switch to PC gaming. Damn right shame too, means no-one will buy the next gen of consoles.

Anyway the point is I feel like I've got this army of PC gamers bashing my xbox now. Everywhere I look PC gamers always seem to do their gosh damn hardest to make people realise what a 'poor' gaming choice consoles are. I'm constantly reminded about my horrible system, over-priced games, dated tech and such. Sorry but I don't have the time to join the superior beings that are PC gamers. My home PC is downstairs and I'd have to build one myself...which isn't gonna happen because I play 40k and that is ridiculously expensive.

Yes I know the PC is the better platform, I have for years, I don't need to be reminded by stupid comments on youtube videos that say "I can't take Roosterteeth seriously when they play on console" and such. Every forum, site and such I visit advocates PC gaming and makes it seem like consoles are the reason for everything bad in the industry.

I guess what I'm trying to say is I feel the gaming community is against me, that somehow me owning a console makes me a stupid or bad person who isn't a gamer and I should be constantly reminded of my systems failures. Is that the plan? Beat down console gamers until they can't take it and buy PC?

Does anyone feel the same? (likely its a majority of PC gamers on this site)
Does anyone completely and utterly disagree with me?
This isn't an angry rant just an observation that ticks me off a little.
No one knocks consoles. They just knock the 360. That's your problem. :p

All jokes aside, I don't necessarily think PC gaming is superior (although ever since I've gotten my PC, it is by far my platform of choice), I just think that what consoles can accomplish is limited. A LOT of people have this misconception that current PC technology (such as the latest GPUs/CPUs) don't offer THAT much advantage over current gen console tech. This isn't true. The problem is that most games don't take advantage of new PC tech (and if they do, it's normally in the realm of graphics processing instead of physics) because they're constrained by console technology.

That being said, there are only a few uses for consoles: exclusives and the center of your home entertainment center. I personally prefer third person games (Assassin's Creed, Tomb Raider, etc.) on consoles. But still, everything else I get for PC.

I'm sorry, but I think the Xbox is the most worthless console to buy though. It's exclusives are few and far between (and also are subpar in my opinion), typically relegated to XBLA, and are usually, eventually, found on other platforms. You also have to pay for an-at-best-average online service. There is literally not a single thing I like about Xbox, except for Halo. Goodness do I love me some Halo. but it's sooooo not worth buying a console for. Actually, I did buy the 360. Biggest waste of money. I gave it to my brother, who's wife is too much of a cheapskate to allow him to properly game (though he'd like to).

And it's just not as good as PC. :p
I love my xbox. The stuff it can do for how old it is just is awesome. I chose the xbox because it had the best exclusives in my opinion and because most games are built for the 360 and then ported to other systems.

I'm sorry but you just demostrated what I don't like, you just couldn't resist listing how superior PC gaming is even when it wasn't recquired.

Also stop assuming I am poor or stupid and cannot afford or build a computer. I am on a Game Design course with a distinction in I.T and earn around £125 a week from my part time job.
If I got a PC I would be leaving my friends and I don't want to do that. A few years back one of my friends starting playing PC and I havn't spoken to him since. Guess he thought he was too good for us.

overpriced games... not really. If you give them some time to cool down, you can get a lot of gaming value out of console games. I got Red Dead Redemption, Deus Ex HR, and Batman Arkham City yesterday for under 60 dollars total. dealio

You are exactly what the OP is talking about. Stop making the rest of us look bad. People can play on whatever the hell they want.

...I'll bash the hell out of microsoft and sony for exploitative business decisions, bad hardware choices, et cetera... but the people who use their consoles for their primary gaming systems are just their victims, not people to be ridiculed. There are plenty of very valid reasons to be a console gamer, mostly involving small initial investment of both money and time/expertise to get into gaming on a console.

Even the cheapest baseline PC build takes $300 and a little knowhow to kick off (I recently built such a system for my parents' living room... they were all about it when they learned I could hook it up to their TV and control it with a wireless trackpad/keyboard combo)... while a modern console can be had for around $200 with incredibly simple setup requirements (one power cable, one data cable, and switch the input of your TV... which, to be fair, is all my parents' PC takes... but I had to build it first). I'd imagine that's incredibly seductive to those who aren't technically adept.

the gaming community and other online communities as a whole have gotten worse with people realizing they can be a complete jerk online with few if any real repercussions. I like League of Legends but the community is absolutely terrible, it doesn't stop me from playing the game but I also don't try to feed the cycle. (not saying you are in this case OP). My best advice is this... ignore it and try to stay away from things that you know will piss you off, its not worth your energy. To solution to this relatively new problem is getting rid of anonymity but we are a long way off from that if ever.

Oh and I guess I would consider myself a PC gamer, considering I haven't owned a consul in years but those of you who like consuls have at it... it's just not my thing :)

Wow I'm not seeing the complaint against PCs here, not from the OP, and since you play RTSs, you practically ARE a PC gamer.

Anyway, there are two reasons PCs are making a comeback. One is that current gen console technology is laughably old and PCs are current with the times. If you want a somewhat cutting edge gaming experience, the PC is your only choice.

The other is, the PC is increasingly the only open-platform left, and the next-gen consoles look like they may be even less open platform. I'm really sick of operating systems that limit what you can do with the computational power of your device. The PC is your best open platform bet. With the PC you can do whatever with your device, not just what Microsoft, Sony, and Nintendo thinks is okay.

Just the facts. No hate, bro.

I have multiple systems with and i play different games on each, i think my parents are at least somewhat thankful for my PS3 because it i played PC only i would never leave my room, plus i just can't fucking stand twats, and i've encountered less retards on PSN than i have on the rest of the internet.

so three points

Price

Ease of use

and

Less dipshits with a superiority complex

Besides, most of them are riding on the coattails of what me and my friends were doing in the 90's and early 2000's, I was there for Half life, Quake, Counterstrike, Starcraft, Warcraft, C&C, civilization, the first 2 GTAs, Sim City. So before any modern PC gamer tells me i'm not a "real gamer" i challenge them to look at what i played when i was 10, I'm nearly 23 now, and i was a PC gamer in the "Good old days" and now i've come back a little thanks to steam. I'm appalled by the arrogance i see in PC gaming, all the rants about consoles the rage towards free to play from kids who haven't had to shell out 15 bucks a month for the last 8 years towards people like me who really want to get into an MMO but couldn't afford subscriptions.

it seems like community spirit has been replaced by whinging and arrogance, you know, everything we used to belittle X-Box owners for.

I play on PC and Wii, and you cannot fathom the lack of fucks I give about this type of conversation.

Why does it even bother people? I'm actually curious. This is not like some form of racism, homophobia or bigotry, or a political view. It's what you play in your spare time.

I don't see TV show and Movie fans going to war over their mediums.

People need to feel like they are superior, and having a thing that's even a tiny bit better than your thing means that they can act superior. I game primarily on console, just because it's something I'm more comfortable with, but that doesn't stop me from booting up my PC whenever a game I want is available exclusively for it. Anybody that wants to throw a label on themselves and claim to have a better system, no matter what it is, is a complete and total tool, and should not be taken seriously by any means.

That said, I personally despise PC gamers the most out of all the fanboy groups, they are a bunch of pretentious, superiority complex having twats that should go die in a fire. Just because your games are a little shinier doesn't mean your choices are better than mine you ****. I thought graphics didn't matter guys, so why on earth do you feel the need to flaunt your superior engines every ten seconds?

I think it's funny that i have seen very few "pc gaming assholes" on this site. What i have seen ALOT are "console gaming assholes", meaning people who constantly complain about
1. all pc gamers being assholes.
2. console exclusives coming to pc, which will absolutly ruin the game for everybody.

It is pretty troubling sometimes, when you look at the comments of some news, which just mentions pc's, and there they are.
"Damn Pc gamers, always complaining about console gamers."
"Oh, i can't wait until the pc gaming master race comes and tells me how stupid i am for liking consoles."
"Seriously, fuck pc gaming!"

And that's before even one tiny pc gamer leaves a comment.
