I think the problem is that people whom play VALVe games have become too entitled, too used to their insane generosity. Just because VALVe has been extremely generous in the past ($2.50 TF2, $50 Orange Box, free TF2 updates for years, etc) doesn't mean we deserve everything for free. It was enough content to justify a sequel as most sequels can arguably fall into the, "well it's really just something they could have added on for free" category.

I was happy to pay VALVe $50 for a quality game upon release.
The fact they offer things at such ridiculously low prices means I'm even more willing to pay full price for things on release. Of course people get greedy, but I'd like to think the fan base Valve has that's devoted and willing to pay outweighs the whinny greed filled bunch. Like I said though, I understand how some people felt the changes they made for L4D2 could have simply been added to L4D in an update, but I really had no problem with it being a separate game.

A paid expansion pack might have been justifiable too, at a $30 or $40 price point. It's not like this is unprecedented in Valve history, since there were two full blown expansion packs for the original Half Life. Note that I don't really have an opinion on this; by the time I had a computer capable of running Source engine games, both L4D games had already been released, and I eventually picked them up for $5 a piece.

I love L4D but I don't own it. Should I still wait for this to be confirmed then? Cause I would like to by 2 for myself someday.

...

Moo.

From http://left4dead.wikia.com/wiki/Campaigns

Cold Stream ― an upcoming DLC Pack which includes a non-canon campaign with ported versions of Death Toll, Dead Air, Blood Harvest and Crash Course.

And the announcement from the l4d2 blog:
http://www.l4d.com/blog/post.php?id=5019
If that's also going to be on 360, fantastic. I love having the option to play l4d1 games on l4d2, but still, I do occasionally come back on l4d1, because the amount of extras added to l4d2 make it feel quite different, and sometimes I like to go back to basics. On 360 there still always seems to be a significant amount that play l4d1, strangely. I assume yours is the steam version?

I suppose my point is, I think there'll always be people who prefer l4d1, no matter what. How many remains to be seen.

As for getting l4d2, I think it's worth it. Just. My version wasn't censored, mind you (I'm in the uk). L4d3, however, would probably be pushing it.

True, but with the constant deals Valve offers for the game I'd be disappointed if you bought it for anything more than $10 these days.
How exactly is a game with more content than the first an expansion pack?
I think it's more so the fact a lot of the things they added in L4D2 could have simply been added into the first game, a simple expansion on what the game currently offered.
Yeah, a dozen melee weapons, 5 campaigns, new survivors (with voice acting), 2 new Special Infected and new music; totally just expansion material. That is way more than you get out of any other sequel these days.

so yeah I really like left 4 dead

and Ive been avoiding the second one because of censoring

so from what I hear mabye its already happned but Valve plan on making all the orignal games campagns availible on the seaquel (right now its 2 of them or somthing)

soooo will I finally have to get left 4 dead 2? is it going to make number 1 anymore redundant that it already has?

what do you think of this?
It wont make L4D redundant as the balancing and gameplay is quite different. They haven't included the L4D campaigns in L4D2 as is, they have/are implementing them including the changes in L4D2 i.e. the new weapons, the new specials, and the altered weapon and damage stats... plus I think the limited shove too. So L4D is still a viable game worth playing separate from L4D2, I still play both and often enjoy the original more as it provides more tactical and individual play, where as L4D2 is very heavy on teamwork which can be a problem if your team mates aren't up to scratch... You can't carry a team in L4D2 as you could in L4D.

Both are great games IMO, I've clocked 200 hrs on the first and 140 on the second, so there must be something there right? ^^
