Alright well I decided to play Left 4 Dead 2 earlier today, as I do on a daily basis, and when I joined a survival match, almost instantly did I start unlocking achievements.

At first I thought it was a glitch in the game, but then I realized I had unlocked every single achievement! The game I joined was ridiculously hacked; there were commands showing up on the screen and this player even managed to morph into a giant white cube (I don't even know, it was weird), as well as the oh-so common "floating" hack (where your character floats and levitates in mid-air). I LITERALLY stayed for 5 seconds and when I left, achievements just kept showing up on my screen.

Basically, I'm extremely worried and downright scared, because I played NO part in this, and I've heard plenty of horror stories of players getting their achievements wiped Nervous Nervous Nervous.

Apparently this has been a somewhat common issue for gamers who have played this game along with others such as Call of Duty (any game really)

In all reality, I'm so darn worried about this. Will I get my gamerscore reset or a ban? I played NO part in this; these stupid hackers are a problem with this game as it is. I know that I probably shouldn't care about my achievements, but I've had Xbox Live literally since '05, and I'd be devastated to see it go to waste because I do honestly value my account

Has this happened to anyone else?

dats mods yo, not hacks, and about those archivements i dont think you can get those achivements wiped, i tried getting my SMB achivements wiped a few months back (since by pal uploaded his save into my cloud by mistake) and support told me they couldnt do anything, so i have a couple characters now that i didnt unlock by myself

I would report it to Valve.

They'd hardly think you be party to the activity by choice or be part of its implementation, if you are reporting it.

Ask them if they can rewind the clock back on your achievements, but, as has already been covered, I don't think you should keep your hopes up. But you never know, so it's worth asking.

Yeah I experienced something like this a long while back when I was playing CoD Modernwarfare 2 on steam.
In that game though you didn't have the luxury of choosing which server you joined in and after countless of plain old regular matches, I suddenly got dumped in some sort of modded server where suddenly all weapons were unlocked and I was max level. For this I was called a cheat by the game and banned from ever playing the multiplayer component again.
Now in the end, after i reported this, what I percieved as injustice, I was told that the ban was somehow irreversible. At least they recognised the mistakes that were made and I was offered a free coppy of L4D2 as compensation. Turns out that the zombieshoter was actually alot more fun than cod and I never truly regretted what happened.

But more to the point of what's happened to you. I would say if you report it you don't really have much to worry about. Valve usually takes a pretty 'human' stance where this sort of stuff is concerned. In my example they didn't really have a say in what the CoD guys did but they offered me one of their games all the same. Given that L4D2 is their game I'd say you have nothing to worry about as long as you take the time to explain.
