Awww I was hoping for a game set somewhere besides the boring US again, why not Russia, Italy, Africa, it could make things much more intresting.

New melee combat was announced. It looks interesting. Possibly the main thing to surprise me during the conference

I'm dissapointed that:
a) the game was announced so soon after L4D
b) Bill, Zoey, Louis, and Francis are all absent (cameos maybe?)
c) the gameplay videos look very similar to the original L4D

I'm not super impressed right now, but I'll probably warm up to it as time passes, and it's not like the game will actually come out when they say it does :p I do like the new setting, and the new infected sound cool.

They just better still be working on Episode 3.

My expectations...

This will get delayed, and will look drastically different from what the game looked like in the trailers near the end.

C'mon, we all know how valve works.
Don't think it will happen this time.

The trailer: http://www.gametrailers.com/video/e3-09-left-4-dead/49967

So, the arsenal includes chainsaws, axes and ...frying pans? There also seems to be a new kind of tank.
Not only that, but all the other weapons are getting upgraded.

- The Witch will also wander the levels too: untill we find her that is. That's going to cause problems.
- New infected called The Charger, who stuns players by running into them at high speed.
- The survivors will be new, we get a school coach, a female reporter, a kid mechanic and a conman.
- it seems the campaigns will be better flowing and connected, it starts in Georgia and ends in Louisiana.
- The AI Director will give rewards out more and encourage more participation by players.

Don't forget the new weapons (silenced smg, spas-12 shotgun, scoped assault rifle), incindinary ammunition, and that the director controls some of the layout of the map now. Also loving the sound of the new crescendos(sp).

WOHHOOOOO!

Okay so from studying the trailer I learned a few things.

1)The game will take place in New Orleans or somewhere in the deep south. (All the clues point to New Orleans. Jazz sign,Hot weather, and a very thick southern accent from the Narrator)

2)The survivors have been changed compleatly and will consit of a Big Black guy who appears to be the leader as the trailer of the game seems to focus on him. A Black female,a white teen or in his early 20s who kinda resembles the scout from Tf2 , and a big white guy who is around the same size as the narrator wearing a nice white suit.

3)A big thing they focus on is the new melee weapons which may lean to the fact that the pistol will no longer have unlimited ammo. The weapons that I could see are a Fire axe In the same design as the Pyro's being wielded by kid (Who I will call scout2 until a name is given).
A chainsaw bieng wielded by the Narrator and a baseball bat being held by the female. The fourth weapon is a frying pan which was held by the 4th guy (Or suitman).

4)The Zombies will feature new designs and will have missing limbs usally an arm. A big zombie in overalls was one of the last things seen as the survivors ran out of bullets. He may be the new tank. No signs of the Hunter,Smoker, and Boomer leaving room for diffrent special infected.

5) A Jet flies overhead as the trailer starts to begin Perhaps confirming the fact that the Army plans to bomb Zombie hotspots.

I'm actually surprised at how fast the game will be released it just dosen't seem like Vale to release a game so fast.

Apparently the AI director can control where you go, which obstacles are in the way, and the weather. So I don't think they could have done this via a simple update. I'm pretty excited, though. I have a feeling that it will be released with Half-Life 2: Episode 3, and maybe something else.

It'd be nice if they made this so if you have L4D 1 also, you get some bonus features. encourages people to have both.

Over at IGN.com they have played through a whole campaign and go into a lot of detail of what to expect... makes for some good reading. A friend of mine just got the first one today cos I kept pestering him, now Ill have to pester him to get the new one, he will not be amused.

For those that cant be bothered to check IGN a few points of note.

-The new game is designed to break up the tactics that have formed from the first game such as camping in tight areas, holding up at crescendo points until it dies down. etc

-The last stand sections of each campaign no longer exist.

-Some zombies have hazmat suits on and are immune to fire and such.

-Some crescendo points require you to press one switch then fight your way to another switch to stop the horde. Prevents you from staying in one place.
