A while back, I read an interview with someone from Valve (I forget who), he said that the game was specifically designed to make some of the strategies from L4D1 impractical or downright suicidal. Camping was specifically mentioned.

Just be happy that there isn't a 'complete a campaign with no damage from SIs' achievement.

My advice would be to communicate as much as possible. In the finales, it really helps to know what everyone else is doing/ planning to do.

2 people went around tossing down fuel cans together, one person filled the car, the other person killed the zombies around the car.

We've been playing on Realism, though, and that shit be bananas. We had to turn it down to normal and we're still having plenty of issues. The maps are so damn big! Beat a crescendo and there's like half the map still to limp through! And then they pwn you all with a spitter because you're too slow to get away!

Adapt to survive is all I can say. The new infected combat corner camping, making the game actually tense survival instead of Serious Sam massacre.

Hey, I got left 4 dead 2 yesterday and I tried playing through the dead center campaign with some friends and we kept dying on the finale sequence. My team and I have been playing since left 4 dead 1 came out so we're not noobs, but I was wondering if anyone could share some strategies that worked for them. We kept together and threw down the gas cans so we could just fill them all up at once when we were done, but the trouble came when the tank showed up. He always managed to kill at least one of us and from there it just deteriorated. What are we doing wrong? This is only on normal difficulty!
Well...I did the demo with the AI and I personally found most of it to be painfully easier than the first game (melee weapons being the biggest cause in my experience).

My best advice (from what I've seen) would be the following:

-Don't play on anything above advanced unless you are Bruce Campell (seriously).
-Whore melee weapons at every oppertunity (the guitar is my personal favourite).
-If someone gets grabbed or caught by something then help them ASAP (the AI pisses me off to no end by neglecting this).
-Shotguns are your best friend.
-Always save your medkits for healing team-mates (it actually helps you save them for when they're needed).
-If all else fails, pull out the guitar and go bat-shit crazy, you may very well die but at least you'll go down taking a fair number of mutilated motherfuckers with you.

You've only played the demo and you're giving tips?! Lol, the demo holds NOTHING to the full game! The demo is piss easy, and L4D2 is a much more interesting game than 1.

It gets batshit crazy out there, and the climax event he's talking about here is pretty damn hard. Took me n some randomers about 5 goes on advanced earlier tonight, but it was HELLA fun ^_^ finally won doing the throw-the-cans-down trick, but the first time we did that they all caught fire and we had to try and collect half of them again! Have you tried dying less? That works for me.
This, this and getting hit less works for me? Also, don't underestimate the power of Defibs.

Oh, and 2 grabbing cans and lobbing them over the railing, 2 grabbing the cans from the ground floor and fueling the car works too.

The demo still gives me experience playing the game (even if it's not all comprehensive, that's why I acknowledged the fact that I only played the demo) and I've had plenty of experience kicking undead ass in the first game (which wasn't too dissimmilar) so I believe that my points where still valid (don't crucify me for trying to help).

For the most part, L4D (and from what I've seen, L4D2) is a pretty easy game provided that you do things right, as you can guess, it's those 'right things' that are the hard part.

Well when me and my brother played, we placed down Fire Ammo and used it against the tank. It also helps if you have a Meelee weapon with you. It's useful for killing surronding zombies. Also split into two teams. One drops containers from the top while the others fill the car. You don't need to kill the tank to win, you just need to fill the car tank.

Me and my bro managed to do it on Normal with two bots on the first try. And we went on to beat the rest of the game with Two bots. The fact that the bots can't shoot you is very important and friendly fire can be a team-killer in Left 4 Dead. So watch your aim. Plan accordingly for tank attacks and spit in two.

Fair doos, but then again the first guy had played L4D too. It helps to know the game you're talking about to help someone who's playing it - for example, boomer-gooing the tank is always fun and potentially more useful than merely igniting the chap. Of course, it also helps to have some infected around to pester the brute.

Just learn the maps honestly. Yes, you will die in the campaigns because the game is noticably harder.

Here's a tip, in Dead Center, make sure one of your better shooters stays down stairs. Let you and your friends gather the gas tanks and throw them down. Now, if the tank comes to you, simply run away and tell your team the tank's location. If you can, bring him to the bottom floor. (To me, it's easier to kill the tank in open spaces, it's also easier to run from him.)
Essentially, you just need one person to fill the car while you all throw gas tanks. Start on the very top floor and work your way down, that way, when you throw down the last gas tank, it won't take you as long to get to the car.

This strategy worked for me and my friends.

Yes. L4D2 is MUCH harder than L4D1.

I only played Expert campaigns on L4D1 but now I get my ass handed to me every now and then on Advanced in L4D2.

And Versus is just crazy.
