Is it at all, in any way or shape... a single player? (crosses fingers)
Yeah, the computer just takes control of the other three players. Though multiplayer would most likely be more fun.

I'm pretty sure you have AI opponents in single player. Once again, that is an inference from a video, but it can't be too bad (I mean, if the zombies are smart, and they seem to be, you can't expect the humans to be TOO dumb.)

It is not 4 zombies against 4 humans, it is a town full of AI zombies, and 4 player zombies, against 4 humans - if it were the other way, the Boomer would be fucking useless.
Mind pointing out where I said it was only 4 player zombies and no AI zombies? The point is, only 4 of the zombies, the ones controlled by humans, MATTER in this comparison. Any overpowerings by sheer numbers is all in the AI and not with the zombie players.

They are also not fighting these things one at a time - if a zombie player waits with a pack of AI zombies, they can easily use them to distract the humans and then kill them.
Yes, because we all know all four survivor players are always dumb enough to not see a small group of zombies attempting to kill them from behind with a pack. If you look at the game, you can quite clearly see regular AI zombies using ambush and multiple group tactics, surrounding the humans, and humans taking a couple of hits before going down. All the complaints you've lodged are the SAME THINGS the AI zombies can do, just more refined by a human player.

Plus, from what I've read, the mode also shows another quite criplling flaw - zombies respawn, while Humans do not. Thus, zombies taking one of them out at a time means they are crippled, while humans killing zombies becomes a minor inconvenience.
Zombies do not "respawn." You grossly misread the dynamic spawn system, which means that it spawns different zombies in different places every run through and depending on your performance. Once a zombie is dead, there is nothing confirmed so far saying they will just keep spawning infinitly.

So far, you seem misinformed and, basically, as others have said, fearmongering. You are assuming the worst, and can't even back it up with any logic that wouldn't implicate the AI without players anyway.

Players are NOT that effective as zombies, from what I've seen. Zombies go down fast and I'm sure you can see where zombies are before they kill you. One shotgun blast and a player zombie is dead. There also aren't tons and tons of super zombies for player zombies to play as anyway, while you seem to constantly assume players will never have to play as a regular zombie.

left-4-dead is awesome, but it sucks that they announced its not gunna be for ps3, so they're gunna force me to get a gold xbox-live account, or get a VERY new PC.
They also said the Orange Box wasn't gonna be on the Ps3. Valve may hate the Ps3, but EA do not.

And you may wish to look at Resistance 2's Co-op.
That's probably because of the extra months of coding and programming it would take to get their products on shelves. Valve from what I've seen respects timeliness and doesn't delay titles to the point you lose interest.

Thats the major flaw - if being a Zombie is open to people, and all the zombies are ri-DICulously overpowered (come on - dragging them away with your tongue? I think thats how Freddy Kreuger chose to kill people), why would anyone want to play as a human? It makes no sense to cripple oneself in those sorts of games. While some people might choose the humans as a challenge, most will just want to have fun, and choose the zombies. How have they fixed that.

I've raisesd this so many times, and no-one ever manages to answer me.
That's why playing as a human looks fun also, it emphasizes teamwork
And zombies are for the lonewolves and at least it gives the griefers something to do besides insult your head off

Easy, Valve will just nerf the zombies until everyone is human.

For the same reason almost 80% of people that play WoW play Alliance. I've been coded for life that playing the misunderstood villain, or the gritty hero, is way cooler. Apparently most people don't think that way.

Seems you over-estimate the boss crackheads.

I personally don't get this game. Don't get me wrong, have fun with it when you get it, but I just can't see the hype with this game. Everyone's saying it's going to be so awesome and the best and all this other stuff, but I just see a game with four people shooting zombies. Of course, you could break any game down to it's simplest form, and there's nothing wrong with shooting zombies, but I just don't see what's so great about this game.

We'll have to wait and see.

This is the reason why I am going to get a new computer. Sure, I want to run Morrowind on full graphics, but L4D is why I'm upgrading.

Bitches be bitchin.
About a ZOMBIE game.

By VALVE (shaddup! It has their name on it!)

I have no idea exactly what the pessimists in this thread are smoking; but I DON'T want any THANKYOUVERYMUCHGOODBYE.

...
Just, stop, think for a second. Smell the air. Tasty? Listen to Frank Klepacki. Do something awesome.
...

Are you back? Optimistic yet?
No?

Then consider that survivors DO respawn. Consider that this is a Co-op game, straight and true, when the market is flooded with solo and online only games. Consider that this is a very unique idea to make part of the opposition in a Co-op game, humans.

Consider that I have my Boots of Crushing on. WHY TAUNT THE MAN-BOY WITH BOOTS OF CRUSHING?!

It's not fun if it's balanced. That's the whole point of zombie movies. You have a few people hell bent on surviving against an endless torrent of infected. That's what it's supposed to feel like. You can't just hold out until you kill all of the zombies, you have to hold them off until you can complete your objective. If there are 40 zombies, they can rush at you, but if you can defend against a single wave, it's over. You win. Wasn't that fun? If they respawn, you can know that you've held them off for now, but they could return at any moment. It's the feeling that infected could come from anywhere at anytime that gives you that feeling that makes it so fun.
The zombies are going to be weak, a zombie player will have to be clever in their plan of attack and how they utilize their NPC minions. A human player will have to be crafty in how they get to their objective and how they plan to keep their team alive against the zombie onslaught.
Either way, the game will be challenging, Zombie and Human will be completely different styles of play, and in the end the most skilled in their class will win.
