Just to note, First Refusal is a buisness term basically meaning 'first chance to say Yes or No' it doesnt mean they wanted to refused to publish it.

Shame about the delay tho.

Awwww, I really wanted to play this game but I don't own a 360 or have a good PC.

Any particular reason it isn't being released on PS3?
They're a small studio, and can only focus on one console at a time. PS3 version will most likely come after the 360 version. If it sells well, at least.

Well, the 360 crowd should be happy when it comes, it really is a great game. I was blown away by it's production value for such a small studio, then I was even more blown away by the removal of the DRM, but then again, GOG games have no DRM on them either. I am also blown away by the outright balls on Namco Bandai for starting this shit with them. Is there a reason they were supposed to get first refusal in regards to the Witcher 2?

Namco Bandi: "you were nice to your customers when you sold it on PC?

... you sick bastards!"

Some companies hate their customers so much they actually have a binding contractual requirement to include DRM in a version they don't have ANYTHING to do with! Namco Bandai especially know next to nothing about PC gaming market.

I seriously can't see what their problem is. The DRM had absolutely no purpose after the game was released, it was only ever meant to prevent pirates from playing the game before it hit the shelves. Not only that, some people were reporting that it was causing some serious framerate issues (CDPR said they had reports of 30% lower framerates compared to GOG's DRM free version).

Yeah, except quite a lot of console owners want the Witcher series. A lot of people were disappointed when the first one didn't get a release.

I will be buying number 2, the only question is which format. i might try to show my support for PC gaming if i buy a new CPU anytime soon
I'd normally say buy it for PC because it's a port. However, from what I've heard, it's more of a port to the PC. People who had trouble with the game's difficulty/controls/interface seem to lose all trouble when plugging in a gamepad. This shows that the game was meant for controllers (even the developers used a controller when showing off the then upcoming game). So either use a controller or get it for the console.
Hmm, when did 'gamepad optimal = console game'

LOADS of proper PC gamer play better with a gamepad than a mouse+keyboard (which is hardly defining of PC platform). Examples of exclusives that benefit hugely from gamepad:
-Jamestown
-Trackmania series
-audiosurf
-dogfighter
multi-platform but PC focused, benefit from gamepad:
-Codemasters racing games (Dirt, Grid, etc)
-Burnout Paradise
-Pure
-Tomb Raider series
-Prince of Persia

The fundamental point is that as A GAMER you should use the best interface for the job.

For FPS/TPS/RTS/TBS/Isometric games, a mouse + keyboard is a better interface.

But with a brawler games like Batman: Arkham Asylum or Witcher 2 (that has quite similar combat) then a gamepad can be more suitable.

PC gamers are not too proud to use a gamepad if it is the best tool for the job.

If only consoles could ditch the false-pride in refusing to support mouse+keyboard when so many console games clearly need it.

That's one of the good things about PC gaming that many seem to ignore. You can choose what to play your games with to best suit your preference.

Which is a pretty good reason to go the PC route, the first Witcher is never getting a console release. So if you want the back story...

360 owners are going to end up waiting over a year to get a version that costs more and will certainly run at far lower resolution and frame-rate than on PC.

Why don't all the 360 gamers invest in some truly next-gen hardware and go the PC route. PC right now has performance a whole generation ahead of Xbox 360 with cheaper games prices and so much more convenience like easier stat/achievement tracking, cloud backup and insta-launch without game-disc. Not to mention the revolutionary Steam-Sales model.

People often use vague, non-specific but broad and sweeping terminology when they have absolutely no backing nor basis of fact.

"Everybody knows that."

As for you Zachary, good job on conducting the poll that shows how many console gamers were disappointed by this news.

Easy there. While I was giving advice, you decided to quote me and attack console gamers. So your whole capitalized gamer thing is flown out the window when you clearly want to make a divide amongst platform of choice.

Not only did I suggest getting a controller for a PC play, I was merely stating that the Witcher 2 was clearly designed for console use as well. When controls are catered to controller (which is more often not used by PC gamers) while the first Witcher was not, then obviously the port was very much on their mind, if not an overwhelming priority.

My beef is not with console gamers, my beef is with console MANUFACTURES and developers.

THEY are responsible for console gaming being what it is, and their dogmatic focus on gamepad or some other particular proprietary interface (kinect) harms the consumer.

I said:

"If only consoles could..."

Not

"If only console gamers could..."

My problem is with the Cliff Blezinskis of the world who scorn mouse + keyboard controls when absolutely nothing stops them supporting them on console apart from their own mislaid prejudices. As a console gamer I feel I deserve this support.

I don't blame console gamers, but if they could just be a little more demanding then these console industry elites wouldn't be making these restricting decisions for us all.

Sorry, I was too busy looking through all the proof you provided to back up your asumption...
