Interesting. So use of a bot will still get you banned but at least your wallet is safe.....ish.

Sure you won't be out millions but you'll still have to buy new copies of the game if you want to play again.

Ruling in favour of Blizzard would have set a precedent that could have caused a lot of headaches. The idea that the second a licence lapses the licensee is automatically violating copyright could cause a major loss in consumer confidence in services with time-based subscriptions... Reminder pop ups that you need to renew your subscription before full service resumes are bad enough but getting served an infringement notice would suck.
