So I realized 'wait, I never played this game before. SHAME On me! shame!' only...trying to rectify this, I can't find it anywhere...Steam, GoG...I may just not know where to look, but I'd really rather get it legally.

Good luck with that. Try E-Bay, Amazon or any other site of that nature. If you wind up with nothing, or having to sacrifice half your annual income just to pay half of the damn price, well, you better get ready to do a lot of choosing.

you might not have a choice in the matter my friend, it isn't produced any more obviously and hasn't been ported over to digital distro yet. Normally I'd say pay for it but in these sort of situations how can you?

I saw it on Amazon, but the highest version of OS you can get it on is Windows XP. So...good luck!

Here's what I usually do in situations like this one:

Hit eBay and try to find a seller who calls himself digital-ostrich. This guy is a former game programmer who specializes in selling vintage computer games. If you buy any game from him and can't get it working, he will help you to the best of his near-unlimited ability. If this fails, he will give you a full refund.

I bought Day of the Tentacle from him. He sent me two discs - one with a backup copy of the game which had been modified to run on modern computers, and one original DotT disc to use as a coaster. (It's not piracy if you include an original copy of the game!)

I absolutely suck at using a computer, but I have never experienced any trouble with a game I bought from digital-ostrich!

Oh yeah, if you don't find the game you're looking for in his eBay shop, you can always contact him and ask for it. Chances are, he can get it for you anyway.

If you can get an original copy you can use ScummVM to run it on any OS you want. You should get Full Throttle, Day of the Tentacle, and Sam and Max Hit the Road while you are at it as well.
