This thread is kinda in the wrong section I think.

Anyway, let me contribute to this thread. Keio Flying Squadron doesn't get enough love in general.
I demand that these games be re-released.

Anything Japanese is certain to take the cake, so my all-time stand by is Persona 4.

Shoji Meguro is a magnificent composer and has made one of the best boss battle themes in gaming history.

Used is the context of the game (and my avatar), it's truely epic.

For the first half of the song, your party is losing, barely able to stand on their feet.
5:00 mark: Your party members are picked off one by one, sacrificing their own lives to keep you safe.
6:00 mark: You discover the true power living inside of your body. The power of your friend's voices give you encouragement to get back up to the defeat the beast once and for all.
6:43 mark: You awaken your true power, using myriad of truths to destroy the beast. A great beam of light radiates from the blast and it is no more. The fight is over.

The only music that rings a bell that I like, and isn't that well know is from the scott pilgrim game
I agree, Anamanaguchi is a very underrated band and they did wonders on the Scott Pilgrim soundtrack

An RTS called Praetorians had great music. They really set the tone as you ran your Roman, Barbarian or Egyptian armies.

Here's the main menu, even this had an epic song.

Unfortunately I forget the composers name.

And the single player also has these awesome tunes, except when you get into battles. Then it starts blasting out Rob Dougan, which in my opinion just makes everything better! :D

Someone already mentioned Falcom's Ys series, but I'd like to bring the light the music of another series of theirs, one that hasn't seen much recognition at all outside of Japan. I'm pretty sure only one game in the series has been released outside of Japan, and I haven't had the fortune of playing any of them, but The Legend of Heroes series' music is a joy to listen to for me.

As for games I've actually played, I refer to Dark Souls's OST.

Any others I'd list have pretty much already been mentioned.

Surprised no one mentioned it yet, but killer7 had an awesome soundtrack.

Someone brought up a thread earlier this month about Battlefield 3's soundtrack. Yeah, a popular game but I wasn't even aware there were other noises in the game besides explosions and loud shouts until he brought it up.

And it quite frankly, it's one of the better soundtracks from anything I've heard.

and this one is a favorite.

Not that anyones heard of this game ever, but it's got a pretty great OST to match the gameplay.

I love the music in Robotrek, very memorable and catchy.

...I don't pay much attention to composers so I'm not sure if Ayako Yoda is well known or not.

Without a second of hesitation, I highly recommend the soundtrack to KGB (also known as Conspiracy), a point-and-click adventure game released in 1992.
