Alright chaps, as you may be aware, Planetside 2 recently came out with a recruitment reward system. As a sucker for cosmetics, I would like to benefit from this but unfortunately have already recruited most of my friends. Rather than simply spam my code, however, I would like to go about the business properly, so this here is my thread, in which you can ask me whatever you want to know about it. If you wish to give it a go (or tried it at release, didn't like it and want to try it again, it works on accounts that've been inactive for around 6 months+), the details are down there in that spoiler box. You will get free stuff.

Do I know what I'm talking about? Somewhat. I've been playing pretty much continuously since late beta, though my battle-rank is currently only in the 50s, so I haven't played it obsessively (or, I suppose, massively effectively). I really haven't played much other than TR, though I do (generally) know what I'm talking about when it comes to the VS and the NC. I also played the original planetside (during the escapist/rock-paper-shotgun/boing boing event to be precise so not exactly in its heyday, admittedly) though they are very different games

I'd also like to stress that I do not consider myself a fanboy - feel free to ask me for negatives or indeed level criticism at the game here, although I would request that if you want to do so, please be at least marginally constructive about it. Also, I won't benefit from recruiting people unless they spend some money, so there's no benefit to me in trying to persuade you to play a game you won't enjoy.

I'm going to avoid a wall of text, but if anyone would like a general, slightly biased overview of the game and the state it's in, I'd be happy to oblige.

So, any questions?

Ok, so to get your free stuff and get me stuff, if you wind up paying (no pressure), create your account by following this link, or log into an active account through it.

What you'll get is as follows: On being recruited, you'll get an LMG for each faction, and a 50% experience booster that'll last 24 hours. If you then spend the qualifying amount (I think 8 GBP or 10 dollars or equivalent), you'll get the choice of: 5 dollars worth of extra station cash, 14 days of membership, or rocket pods for the Empire Specific Fighter aircraft. I, meanwhile, will get a boost of my choice for each person that pays, and larger rewards at certain numbers of recruits. If I reach the max, I will make a note of it here and will happily replace my code with someone else's.

Played it a while ago but eventually stopped because the obtaining of tokens/money? was really slow. Did they changed that or is it still the same system? And did they changed that you can only use the weapons for one character?

Yeah, they've changed both of those. Basically you get rewarded for significantly more things, now. Did damage to an aircraft? Points. Hurt someone who then crashed/jumped off a cliff? You now get credit for the kill. You also get a little bonus pile of experience for every 10 kills you get with a weapon, or for every x number of healing/repair ticks you give out. Bunch of other stuff, too. They also have alerts, which are 2 hour periods where there's an objective (take Indar, or hold all the biolabs on Amerish, for example), where taking part in the alert nets you a 20% xp buff to everything you do (possibly 25?), and then a load of xp is given to everyone who took part on the winning team, or is divided up in the case of a draw, depending on how well your faction did. They've changed it recently so that you only get rewarded for how long you were taking part, because people were swapping to the winning faction to get the reward, but you're still well rewarded.

That said, it's still not amazingly fast, but I think the general consensus is it's not such a grindfest, especially since some of the kit has gone down in price.

As for individual weapon unlocks, yes, they've changed it. You buy a common pool gun, you'll have it for every character you own, any faction. Buy an empire specific gun, you'll get it for any character on that faction (if you play on multiple serves for whatever reason). The big exception to this is that (unless they changed it, but it was certainly true at release), some vehicle gear is subtly different between factions, so the while the halberd launcher on the main battle tank may function identically between factions, it might not transfer across. Anything on the vehicles other than the main battle tanks and the empire fighters should transfer across fine, though.
